Something strange happened to me.....

Today I had a really stressful and very emotional day at work, I am a mental health nurse so this in itself occurs from time to time
The strange thing is what happened next....
8 months ago I would have come home, ordered the biggest takeaway pizza I could find, a tub of ice cream and a big box of chocolate – possibly adding a bottle of wine on top and curled up in front of the TV with my better half and let the stress drain away...
Well today I came home got changed into winter running gear, went to the country park and ran till it got dark (C25K program) I ran off my stress and it felt GOOD......
When exactly did this new me arrive because I did not see this coming

Awesome! Working out to relieve stress is excellent.
A speed bag or punching bag works well.0 -
That is amazing. I remember the first time I ran to work off some stress. It was so exhilarating. Now I run every morning before work, may as well be preventative.0

I couldn't agree more. Add a little mental imagery (the guy that cut you off, the skinny size 2 who looked down at you when you were about through cartwheels for finally buying a size 8 dress and it fit). The endorphines help better than any pizza and wine combo I have tried.0 -
240 calores for 30 min. Not to mention the stress relief benefits0

Yes! That's how you know you've changed! Congrats0

Awesome! Hip hurrah for you! Well, a friend of mine who happens to be a psychotherapist puts a lot of stock in the theory that as you behave, so you become. If you want to be a kinder person, start practicing acts of kindness and one day you'll discover you've internalized the process. If you want to become a healthier person, just keep doing what you're doing. Way to go!0

That is totally awesome! Amazing how we can get addicted to working out. Keep it up! (and remember the feeling!)0

Running = Free Therapy! Awesome job!0

Congratulations on the great decision! I just left a job of case management at a mental health center so I am very sympathetic about the intense, exhausting, overwhelming stressors one day can bring. I admire you for being able to stick it out and provide such an important service. I certainly left work and made unhealthy choices a number of days (although mine generally were much worse and had to do with drinking:) - way to go! Keep it up! Add me if you need a cheerleader as a mental health worker.0 -
