Is your SO jealous of MFP?
Replies

no, but i'm very aware of the time I spend with him and I don't want to be on MFP when he is home from work. I'd rather spend time with him anyways! I check in usually once in the evening to complete my diary, but most of my chit-chatting with friends occurs during the day while we are both at work.0

No! He actually really likes it, he always wants to know how my friends on here are doing. He agrees that it's been instrumental in my weight loss0

I think my husband thinks I'm up to no good on here. He is jealous that I'm conversing with other people and not him.
I feel so guilty when I'm browsing the forums or looking at my news feed.....and I AM NOT doing anything wrong!!! It's annoying...
Is he jealous and not trusting? That would probably be the reason then. If your SO gets jealous of strangers on message boards, then there may be an issue...0 -
"It's just weird"
is what I get
I get this one too. I try not to get on too often while we are together. Unless he is flipping channels at the speed of light, then all bets are off.
Yeah, I think maybe he just doesn't get it.....why on earth would I want to spend time on a fitness website? I MUST be doing something shady.....lol
My SO is on here as well so it isn't a problem for us. If your husband doesn't get it, give him your log in info and let him come take a look for himself. Some people say that's giving up your privacy, but if he's just curious and can browse around, he'll see it is harmless0 -
Nope.0

No, I married an adult.
That's a little disrespectful to the OP. Some people have trust issues, myself included. I thank the people who can be patient with us0 -

I was thinking the same thing. Sounds like a bigger problem then just the website itself. May need to sit down and have a chat about it...he may not even realize how jealous he is acting.0 -

It's a trust problem or an attention problem or both. Either way, when your on your phone or MFP becomes more important than your SO it will create a big problem. I know this first hand. Now if they were doing it together and he was a part of MFP it might be a different story but that doesn't sound like the case here.0 -
Sounds like insecurity to me and it's two-pronged: 1) you're doing something to better yourself and he's not a part of it. 2) he's jealous and jealousy is about control. My ex politely asked that I give up my Facebook account because he hated that I had male friends. I did delete it at the time but I would never do that again for ANYONE. I did it to try to get him off my back but then it quickly turned into other things. He'd have had me covered head-to-toe in burlap if he could have.
Once you allow them to dictate your actions it quickly goes downhill. Some people might suggest that you get him to join you but I don't think that's a good idea. He needs to trust you.0 -
My husband is not jealous but he does think I spend a lot of time talking to my FABULOUS MFP friends. However he doesn't get mad. I am still a great mother and wife so there's nothing to complain about! :drinker:0
-
I have MFP, he has his fb game. We just need to get to a place where we don't spend more than 20 minutes or so on our websites when we're together lol0
-
No. At home I only log in to log and check real quick, unless he isn't home then maybe longer.
I don't go online much at home especially when my husband is there, too busy doing other things together.
I'd rather hang out or go do something with him.
I sit on my butt in front of a computer at work all day which I hate - I hate sitting being inactive... it's the last thing I want to do at home.0 -
I tell him all about it and he watched me log my calories the other day. He said "Huh. That's awesome babe." And went back to playing the Wii.
Once I felt like he spent too much time on his phone when we were together. Now we leave our phones in the car when we go out to eat and put them across the room when we're in bed. It's nicer that way.0 -

No, if I spent less time on here I'd be noticing how much time he spends playing his warrior game-thing, or playing electric guitar instead of doing his Uni work. Haha! I've rumbled him.0

My husband and I own our own business and work together from home. Me spending time online doesn't bother him. We have plenty of time together. Instead of chatting with my co-workers over the water cooler I just pop online for a few.
We are also both losing weight together and he has an account but doesn't do much more than log his weight. He knows this is important to my success so he is supportive.0 -
my SO gets jealous, but thats what i do when im ignored and the TV is more important than me..not jealous of MFP but jealous that im getting healthy and he isnt (not my choice...HIS)0

Last night after my workout (while posting it) :
SO: "Who you texting? Come on, who is it? "
Me: "My FWB, they're swinging by when you fall asleep for the ol' in-out"
SO: "Make sure you log that workout."0 -
no SO- no jealousy- NObody tells me what to do with my time. nobody tells me what to do period.
Personal freedom is the only way I can live- I've tried that other crap, doesn't work for me - I'm too independent.0 -
No, I married an adult.
You bully him too??....0 -
Nah, he did wonder what the heck I was doing on here for hours on end and when i told him what it was and how it was helping me, he told me to keep going!0
-
My SO uses MFP as well but we're very seldomly on it when we're together. Time with him is far more important than anything going on here0

My fiance is jealous because she is worried i'll want to leave her....because she knows she doesn't give me the attention I deserve, and instead of changing that about her, she basically told me than even talking to a woman is considered cheating...
so yeah, she is worried because I look a great deal better while she is very insecure about herself (and she has had gastric bypass and a tummy tuck)0 -
Jealous? No way. My poor husband is thankful to get a break from me talking about this stuff! He supports my lifestyle, works out, and lives it but he doesn't like to talk about it or anything else for that matter as much as I do!0
-
No, my husband is not jealous of MFP nor would he ever be. He likes the support and encouragement I receive from this site to keep me on track with my goals and my journey back to good health.
If I am conversing ideas, failures and successes with people on this site, then I am not consumed with my weight and appearance when I am spending time with the hubster.0 -

HA HA, I just posted a similar response..............I kind of get obsessive at times.0 -

WOW, it is impossible to not have interaction with both sexes..........online or real life.
She needs to evaluate herself and make the changes necessary.0 -
I dont use it a lot infront of him only to log on and then off again but i know at first he was worried that i'd find some bloke on here but now he knows i just use it to log what i eat and exercise0
