I was wondering what i should go buy when it comes to logging my calories burned. I worked out on an eliptical today for 1 hour and the life fitness machine that i was on said i burnt 1002 calories but my heart rate monitor said i burnt 700 calories. I figured their would be a difference but i didn't think it would be that much. Just wondering what others thought of this

I always use my heart rate monitor since it takes into account your age, weight and height, and actually measures your heart rate, not an average person's heart rate for the machines. It is a surprise about the difference in calories burned. Sometimes I burned more than the machine said, and sometimes I burned less, but I always use the HRM.0

Your HRM is far more accurate than the machine. Sad when the difference goes that way, but true. :flowerforyou:0

Always use your HR monitor, even if the machine at the gym is reading your HR, it does not take into consideration age, weight and gender.0

Agree with all above posts, especially if your HRM has a strap. It's a more accurate reading of calories burned.0
