Bloating, Gas, What did I do to deserve this?

So a week ago I decided to start trying to eat as close to Raw as possible. Please note I have been a vegetarian for 8 years and over the summer normally eat a high vegetable/fruit diet.

But I can say that this is the worst bloating and gas I've had in my life. I've actually gained a few pounds. I can't fit into my pants without pain. The smell. I've tried Zantac and it hasn't helped. I didn't think I changed my eating habits THAT much, but I guess I had?

Here's what I've been eating almost daily this week

Banana for breakfast or a Banana/Apple/Date smoothie (8am)
Baked Oatmeal with Soy a few hours later (This is where I haven't been fully Raw, and thus not a drastic change) (10am)
Lunch/Dinner has been a mixture of garlic, cucumber, avocado, and corn. (5 or 6pm)
Normally another banana or apple for a snack (7 or 8pm)

In between the meals I've been snacking on cashews or almonds, about 10 at a time.
I've been consuming at least 8 glasses of water and stopped drinking coffee as the acid was terrible.

Also I've noticed my hunger level has dropped incredibly this week. I used to never be able to maintain 1200 calories, but now I have problems reaching it. Breakfast used to be my favorite meal but I'm struggling through eating at 8 and even 10am. It's not till about 4 or 5 pm that I start to even want to think about food.

Does anybody have any experience with this? I am very fiber sensitive and have always struggled with a bad stomach, which is why I became vegetarian in the first place. Could it be my increase in fruit that's causing the gas?

  • Anytime I change my diet, I need time to adjust. About a week feeling gassy and bloated and constipated, too. (I know, yuck) I find that if I exercise it helps at least with the gas. And drink I drink tons of water, which feels counter-intuitive when I feel bloated.

    Hope you feel better soon!

I have been reading up on IBS A LOT this week and my guess is your garlic/cucumber/corn combo and the nuts... do you normally eat a lot of nuts?

this article has been FANTASTIC for me this week...

when I switched to a hgh fiber diet I had the same reaction. Your body will adjust to the change, they told me I added it too quickly, I didn't give my body time to adjust. Hang in there...
