I'm scanning in a bunch of old photos that we found in my grandmother's house when she passed and creating a DVD slideshow for her.

my mom loves jewerly so I got her a necklace with a heartshaped locket that says mom on it with some flowers on it too. We are also going out to eat on Sunday after church.

Mothers Day, for my mom and me, was back in March when I went to visit her for a week in Costa Rica. We had a wonderful visit after 5 years of not seeing each other, and Costa Rica was a freakin' blast!

I miss my mommy! (today would have been my parents 44th aniversary too....)

But, my hubby is taking me to the South Bend Silver Hawks (minor league baseball) game on Sunday afternoon. Should be fun!

So sorry for your loss, Margie. I can't imagine how difficult the day must be for you . . . my sister-in-law lost her mother 21 years ago, and still has a very tough time with Mother's Day, and other holidays. I hope your husband makes it extra special for you!

It's been a little over 2 years since we lost Mom. The first year was the hardest, but it does get better. This time of year is hard because she loved spring and the Redbud Trees and then Mother's Day and their anniversary. But, we just plug away. I'm lucky that I have a WONDERFUL mother-in-law who helps fill in the void a lot, but she lives 5 hours away, so it's not the same.

I love Silver Hawks games! My oldest daughter got free tickets for Swoop's Reading Challenge, so she and Hubby went Wed. night. That's when he found out about Sunday's game and the Breast Cancer stuff they are doing. So he wanted to take me. He's a good man! :smooched:

Thanks! I know it's something that I'll never fully recover from. One of my friends lost her dad when we were in college and she still struggles too on certain days, and that was 15 years ago.
I have a pretty thoughtful husband, so it'll be a good day!

My mom does too, luckily I make my own so she can pick her favorite fragrances. We are also doing a family portrait for her since it has been 6 years since the last one. I take pics so that will be a pretty inexpensive gift also.

My stepmom died 5 years ago next month and it is really hard. She was my "emotional" mother. My "biological" mother is an alcoholic and not really supportive, but she is still my mom. My dad remarried about a year after her death which makes it even harder to deal with. He won't even talk about her anymore and they were married 33 years. His new wife is really nice but she is only 9 years older than me so it is kind of weird.

I mailed my mom and MIL a card, that's about it, we never have really done anything with them, we actually don't do much for Mother's Day here either, i won'r even see my hubby, he has been out of town on a job site and wants to get it done so he doesn't have to go back, yesterday was his B-day and i drove over 2 hours to surprise him, however he had a feeling i would show up he knows me to well...lol
So it willbe just be me and 4 of the kids on Sunday hanging out at home.

i got my mom some coloring books with mandalas, they are relaxing and fun to color. I know it sounds a little odd, but she loved it! (she was there when they came in the mail, so i already gave them to her.)

I think some pretty purple climbing flowers for her garden!
Either that or I will take her to Kohl's (her favorite store) and have her pick out something

I bought my mom a mani-pedi and we'll go get it done together and go out for lunch one day next week because she would never go by herself to get it done.

<~~~~~~ See those pictures there? (there's more in the profile) Some prints of those in some nice frames! My Mom has been begging me for something like this for 3 years and my MIL made us get the pictures made so she gets prints, too. I'm trying to find non-toxic ink to do my daughter's hand print on a card for each of them. I might have paint. I know it's around here some where in my kid-safe crafting stuff from when I was a Nanny. I doubt my husband will be able to do anything for me for Mother's Day. He blew it last year anyway, so I don't really care about celebrating it this year for myself.

Sorry for those of you who have lost your Mom's....makes me appreciate mine that much more..

    Some great ideas
    Love the handmade card!

I thought about going to her house and redoing her flower beds or painting her front porch - - both of which she needs done desperately --should I ask her which she'd rather or just surprise her?

We are going to TN to visit my parents next week and staying for 2 weeks so that will have to be her gift lol. We haven't seen her in about 4 years, so her grandson can be her gift lol  . My dad it's been 7 years. Last time mom came up dad stayed home with the other kids. I can't wait to get home and spend some time with them. OH and we are getting married while we are there. So my dad can give me away while his health is still ok.
