in Australia we have something called Bio Oil, it's designed to minimize stretch marks and new scars. Maybe ask the chemist for something like that. Otherwise.......time :)
  • I was going to ask the same thing. I've had 4 kids so my stretch marks go up past my belly button. They're deep and horrible. I'm going to be mad if I lose all this weight and can't wear a bikini. I've heard of over the counter creams that are suppose to fade scars and vitamin E oil. Great question! Will def be following to see what suggestions come up.

I had them on my thighs and sure they faded and went away. Give it time. And i didn't use any cream, either.

Depending on how big you were, and how much you lose, your skin may shrink back -- there's an amazing chic on here (i'm sure there's more than one but there's one that I know of) who has lost half her body weight -- like 156 pounds, and she looks amazing - you'd never know she ever weighed as much as she did - toning exercises work wonders. I've been doing lots of toning and my arms are showing results (as I'm worried about saggy stretch marky skin on my arms and stomach as well).... Also, I've heard cocoa butter (like palmer's) works great so I use that.... I've seen bio oil here but never used it. good luck!!

Cocoa butter lotion has worked for my husband and for myself. Of course, time works too!

My husband had horrible stretch marks on his stomach from being overweight. They are still there, but you can't see them anymore unless you get up close and go looking for them. They were pretty deep and very obvious before.

I had some on my lovely lady lumps when I was a teen, but they weren't very big and they faded on their own.

Now I have some on my thighs from being overweight, and I am using the cocoa butter. I'd say over the last few months, 80% of them have faded. I still have a few left that are obvious, but honestly, they don't bother me as much as they bother my husband. He freaked when he first saw them because it was almost as though they appeared overnight.

Nothing has worked for me... And the worst part is my skin is still really saggy.
In fact I have stretch marks on my thighs from when I lost 40lbs back in 2006 and they are still there showing like wild.
  • I can personally say Bio-Oil works WONDERS and is worth whatever the asking price is!! Not only have I used it on stretch marks and got amazing results, I had a nastey scar on my leg from a baseball slide and it was actually disappeared. You just have to make it a part of your every day routine to use it. I always do right out of the shower in the AM and once again before bed. Be patient, and you'll see results in about 4 weeks. Good Luck :)
  • I had them on my hips from growing too fast when I was a teen, and then I have some of my thighs from weight and losing and gaining. Most of those have faded over time.

However, the Palmer's Coco Butter lotion does work on marks :) Eventually, over time. With religious use.

I agree with the Vitamin E oil recommendation. I buy it in a small bottle at the pharmacy. I was actually told about it by a plastic surgeon when I was 8 after he sewed my face back together after a dog bite. I've used it ever since, so just over 30 years. I've had two kids and went from a max of 46% body fat down to 14.5% body fat now, size 18/20 to size 8/10 and have virtually invisible stretch marks. Even on my boobs that were up to a 48DD and are currently a 38B! So, I know the Vitamin E oil works.

I have been using cocoa butter regularly for a few months now... I am not sure if it is the reason why, but mine have gone from less pink to a more even skin tone color. I don't expect them to ever go away, but the less noticeable they are, the better. It might help, I use it almost every day if I make enough time for it.

I bought Mederma when my son had to have stitches on his forehead. No scar left whatsoever. However, he was four, and young skin heals better. I bought some Bio Oil at Costco. Have been using on my face for four or five weeks now. I think the brownish sun spots on my cheeks are fading. I really like how it soaks in so well. Hasn't left my face feeling greasy.

You can get Bio Oil in the US too. Walgreens has it, but i imagine any drug store would have it. I bought some for mine, but I haven't been using it consistently. : (

i use lots and lots of skin lotion, something with shea butter or aloe or vitamin e

work it right into the stretch marks and all around them

do this atleast once a day, if not more.

i have two spots on my stomach and each love handle has some but they have faded immensely as I have slimmed down and tightened up and I really think it is a lot to do with the lotions.

you can also get ScarGel. which some people say works pretty good for stretch marks.

Stretch marks can and do go away. About half of mine have vanished completely during the past few months. I'm not sure what helped them go away, though, other than healthy eating and exercise... I don't use any topical products on mine.

Not sure, but I think the sun may help. I have a bunch - the ones that see the sun more often are quite a bit lighter (white instead of purple). I think it also depends on how thin your skin is - try exfoliating and using lots of lotion to have the skin replenish itself. Again, Vit E is supposed to help (replenishes the skin), and of course, lots of time. What I hate the most is that they make ripples in your skin, not so smooth! :(

Good luck, and remember almost everyone has them, either from growing, fat, or babies.
