Anyone else having trouble over Christmas?

I was doing really well with sticking to things and had lost 4 pounds and over the past 2 weeks I've put most of that back on again as I've been going out to meet friends for dinner for Christmas, having no time to go to the gym because work has been pretty hectic with it so close to Christmas and most of my gym classes have finished up for Christmas and Christmas Day hasn't even arrived yet!

I know that no one else can control what I eat and what I do but I do feel really demoralised right now. I know that I'll just have to try to pick myself up and stop the bad habits again but I do still feel really down in the dumps due to the fact that I've undone the good work.

I suppose I should try to think positively about the fact that if I hadn't lost the four pounds, then I'd still have those four pounds and another four on top of it that I gained over Christmas, but still, it's hard to feel motivated now that the work has been undone.

I guess I just want to see if anyone else has fallen off the waggon right now and if anyone has any tips to help me get back on it before it's too late!

For once in my life, I didn't fall off the wagon! But I had an advantage over you - had NO parties or even gatherings to go to so just Christmas Eve dinner tomorrow night.

I think you need to focus on this that you said:

"that if I hadn't lost the four pounds, then I'd still have those four pounds and another four on top of it that I gained over Christmas"

    This is so very true!!!

You are not in defeat at this point. Defeat would be if you didn't pick yourself back up and start anew on Monday. Don't let it go past Christmas!!! Give away any junk in your house - throw it away if you have to and tell yourself that New Years will be ONE day only for a splurge. Log your food ahead of time even if you are going out. Look up the menu online and decide what you will have. Then stick to it! That way you can focus on your friends instead of what you are eating.

This is a TINY setback in the grand scheme of things. Change your negative self talk. Hey - you came here and posted. That means that you DO want to do this. You CAN do it!! Tell yourself that you WILL do it. Don't hold on to the mistakes. Let them go and make your plan and then do it.

It's tough isn't it? I have company at my house for 9 days, then a two day break, and then company again for a week. And yes, it is driving me crazy at times.
I had company here for 10 days at Thanksgiving and gained 3 lbs. Lesson learned-this time I am making time to work out at home. I simply cannot afford not to.
Do you have any workout dvds you can do at home? Even a 30 min. workout is better than nothing! If not, can you run the stairs, do sit ups, jumping jacks, etc.? Anything can help with the stress and help you feel more in control.
Don't give up-you can do it!

Maybe these articles will help, they're about swapping high calorie foods eaten regulary on/over Christmas for similar (and still good!) lower calorie ones! Might help you not gain any more, then you can concentrate on losing the 4lb after it! :)

(There's more if you google "low calorie christmas alternatives" or something similar)

You've lost the weight once, you can do it again! And after Christmas when you start eating out less etc you'll cut a lot of calories probably, and even more when you exercise so you'll probably lose them quite quickly! Or do one of those January diets, or just eat super healthy for a few weeks and drink lots of water, it boots your metabolism (though you prob knew this lol).

But make sure you enjoy it, its only one day a year! Happy Christmas!

Forgot to add-be sure and enjoy the moment too! It's here just once and then you have the rest of the time to focus on weight loss! Take care and Merry Christmas!
