To you all,
I wanted to send some sort of holiday greeting to my friends and colleagues, but it is difficult in today's world to know exactly what to say without offending someone. So I met with my lawyer yesterday, and on advice I wish to say the following:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday practiced with the most enjoyable traditions of religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice with respect for the religious / secular persuasions and / or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2012, but not without due respect for the calendar of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make Great Britain such a great place (not to imply that Great Britain is necessarily greater than any other place) and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms:

This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her / him or others and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. The wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

Best Regards (without prejudice)

Name withheld (Privacy Act ).

hahah that's hilarious! I accidentally wished my muslim friend happy christmas (after he said it to me first though, so it was force of habit) and asked my Hindu friend if she had done her Christmas shopping yet (again, she asked me first, so I said it out of habit!)

Then my neighbour, who celebrates christmas in January wished me a merry christmas and I didn't know what to say.

Well I do make the effort to wish them a happy Eid, Festival of Lights and '6th of January' Christmas as well, so I hope they don't take it too offensively. In future, I shall print and hand this out!

YES! I deliberately wished every customer at work a Happy Hanukkah the other day (on the first day of Hanukkah) just because. I celebrate Christmas but who cares? maybe I'll wish people a happy Chinese New year too!

My mom has a good friend who is muslim and decorates her house for christmas and does the whole santa thing for her 5 year old son because she likes it.

    Ha !
  • Good going on making it halfway through the dark season, lighter times are ahead!
  • I say it like I see it, MERRY CHRISTMAS! I am never offened at what people choose to say even if it's bah humbug! I believe in people having choices...It's not how we choose to celebrate that is a problem..it's those who try to destroy our freedom to choose. So how ever you are spending your day, do it with full vigor and joy! :)

Just like an attorney to write something like that!!! LOL!!!!! I'm still old fashioned and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!!! Too bad if they don't like it!!! (Actually, here in Dallas, most people say the same thing!) Now... if I were living in south Florida, well... that'd be a different story.

All kidding aside, I try to be sensitive to others, but certainly don't go into all the lovely detail, politically correct, diatriabe of an attorney! Happy Holidays everyone!!!!
