Hello everyone!
For a long time, I've been having eating disorders. I was doing better during the last couple of months, but in December I've experienced it again repetedly. I'm looking for a psychotherapy, but meanwhile: have you read any books which were helpful or particularly informative for you? Or do you know a good website about the binge eating disorder?
Thank you for any suggestion and have a nice day!

I've found Geneen Roth's books extremely helpful.

Feeding the Hungry Heart & Women Food and God are two of my favorites0 -
I've literally read almost every book in the self help section on eating disorders. I've read fiction, non-fiction, completed workbooks. Ultimately, it was therapy and a strong support system that got me through it. Sadly, sometimes the books made it worse as it would give me ideas on how to continue my bad behavior. Good luck!0

I am a binge eater myself, I just admitted it about a week ago. First thing is recognizing that you have a problem I checked the internet for meetings to go to . They have a over eaters annoynomous meeting in each and every state. Just google overeaters annoynomous. I also am seeing help by a psyco. doctor. But I figured that the meeting should help also. I also started a journal to try and relieve some of my stress, Im a stress eater0

Seconded! She doesn't advocate calorie counting, but the majority of her insight is spot-on! I'd also recommend "Shrink Yourself" by Dr. Roger Gould.0 -
_Eating in the Light of the Moon_ is great. It has a very different approach to the topic, and talks about issues through stories. It's really interesting.
I have also found _Overcoming Binge Eating_ a useful resource.
And I agree that Geneen Roth is a fabulous writer; I like _Breaking Free from Emotional Eating _.0 -

Hello Darkangel, may I ask what kind of therapy you did / are doing? Was it a specific therapy for eating disorders or a more general one? A psychoanalytical or a behavioural or something else?0 -
Shrink Yourself by Dr. Roger Gould -- also free and paid resources at shrinkyourself.com website0

Hello, I have a few books which have really helped me here are two. I also went to a therapist who herself was a recovering binge eater. It was cognitive therapy and really helped.
A couple books that come to mind right now are:
Relapse prevention: maintenance strategies in the treatment of addictive behaviors by G. Alan Marlatt.
The Hunger Within, by Marilyn Migliore. She runs a workshop here at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor which I took that was really good.
Anatomy of an Eating Disorder is a good one too.
http://www.bulimia.com/client/client_pages/binge_eating.cfm This publisher has a lot of good books, I know the website is bulimia.com but they have books on all sorts of eating disorders, the publisher is Gurze. There is a whole section on BED.
Bottom line is, you cannot recover on your own. Once you convince yourself you need the support of others in your peer group, family, professionals whatever, is when you are on the road to recovery. Wishing you much success in your recovery.0 -
i have the same problem, maybe we can help each other get through this!0
