UGH!! I keep gaining and losing the same 3 lb over and over again...I am about to just give up with all this charting and just live my life....healthy, but less time and charting.

So do you want to maintain now or really lose some more? We all plateau sometimes... you just have to keep on doing the 'right stuff', maybe change your routines and have faith that your efforts will be rewarded.

I am so glad to see this topic. In the last 4 weeks I have only lost 3 pounds. The last 2 weeks I have been losing and gaining the same weight and I am getting frustrated! I stay within my calories. I workout alot (running, Zumba and light hand weight work) 3-5 times a week for anywhere from 30-60 minutes and I eat those calories. I drink anywhere from 8-10 glasses of water a day. I am 5'4" and 151.9 and 36 years old. I still am considered "overweight" I was 139.9 this past March so I know I can weigh less. I put on a bunch of weight after a job layoff in April. I really am at a loss how to shake things up and get the scale moving again. I dont think after a month of working out I can still say "Muscle weighs more than fat". There has to be a point of where the weight has to start coming off. Looking for some feedback and support on this.

My nutritionist told me that as a woman, a 2-3 lb variation is weight (up or down) is maintaining. She had a long explanation which made sense at the time but I zoned out after a while. She also said when you get "stuck" start changing. Eat more and exercise less was what she told me at the time but I still can't get my head around that one. So try mixing it up. When I plateau I'm usually able to break it within a week or so by eating more fat, less carbs, same protein and cutting down on cardio and increasing strength training. Don't know why it works just know it works for me. As I've gotten closer to my body's comfortable weight its harder. Seems like my body is't happy where my head wants to be.

A pound is a pound. 1 lb of muscle takes up LESS space than 1 lb of fat. But it weighs the same. Think golf ball and softball. LOL!

I had already planned on doing my 2 hours of Zumba tonight (fun Friday night class for me :) But I think I will take a break from cardio for the holiday weekend maybe that will help. Thanks for the suggestions :)
  • Have you ever thought about adding in strength training. I did this when I hit a plateau and it worked for me. I do cardio six days a week, strength train three days a week, and rest on one day.

I have been doing this for 6 week! I am so frustrated with the lack of results given the gym time and calories deficit that I am logging. I try to stay close to my MFP calorie goal and only eat back part of my exercise calories. I hope you have better luck that I have at breaking the plateau. I have tried eating over my calories and adding strength training and using different machines. so far no weightloss just boucing up and down by 3-4 calories.
  • Well MOM23Nuts your not alone!! I have bounced back and forth many times. If you just hang in there you will loss again as long as you keep tracking and doing the exercise we all need. Also This time of year is the hardest, sweeties at the office or next door etc.
Get thru this weekend maybe add 5 mins to your Cardio and rock it out. You can make it happen.
  • This is where I have been for several months now as well! It is very frustrating, but I have started strength training and now that the Holidays are over I am starting the 30 day shred challenge on here hoping that it will boost my metabolism again and I will start losing again! It has happened to me about every 10 lbs I lose so it is not surprising that it happened to me again, but this time it is a longer period of time. :(
I wish you all the best at getting past this plateau and I hope you find something that works. And if you do please let me know! :)

I'm in the same boat since August. I'm still not convinced that I will not reach my goal but just not in the time I had in mind. The best advice I have been given is clean eating and weight training. I mean clean! That has been an ongoing issue with me. I'm clean most of the week and then the weekend hits and I'm splurging just a little bit more. I have removed my weigh-in addiction, by joining a no-scale til the new year challenge. It will be 2 weeks since I last weighed myself, so praying it helps with my sanity. I refuse to give up b/c my body has changed overall and my lifestyle is so much more healthier than before. I'm focusing more on increasing endurance, strength, lowering body fat, and just plain out looking fit. The scale will come around eventually.
