I've been using mfp for quite some time and have found it so helpful during this weight loss journey. And really only recently started exploring around the message boards to see so much support on here!! I am a nurse, who back in March had my 2nd knee surgery and in June once I got the all clear from my surgeon, I started traning for my first half marathon. My goal was to not just lose weight, but to be more healthy. I don't' sleep well at night and exercising helps with getting the z's! So I trained for the half all summer and the first weekend in september ran and completed the half marathon. Well I learned I enjoy running, but I also have started doing other things as well. I have been doing some Insanity, Jillian Michaels, Zumba, trying to mix it up. we don't have a fitness center here so really, I depend on my support system for help motivating, and keeping me accountable. And I have also participated in our local hospital's Melt Down Challenge earlier this year and am getting ready to start another challenge next week. I look forward to meeting others on here!! :o)

Welcome, and congrats on running your first half-marathon!
  • Smlydnny here and new to this site. Do the parameters you put in i.e. weight, height and age give them enough to work with to project how many calories you should take in? Are there other factors that should be in there like BMI for ex. or is this good enough? Thanks
