Oh, no need to say, I know it's sad.

There is nothing sad about it. It's actually really awesome that you want to do something about it. Big ups to you for that :flowerforyou:

Think about it this way. You are only 23. At least you're not 40 something and just thinking about it. At your age, it is much easier to change your ways.

Regarding losing weight. MFP is a great start! Keeping to your calorie goal is the next thing and exercising.

If you are not very fit and not so into exercise, I recommend walking. That's where I started.

Only way to lose weight effectively is with both diet and exercise.
  • Thanks

Only thing I can recommend to help with the motivation is go to the topic 'success stories' and look for people who have your starting weight and who have gotten to your goal weight, to show you for real, it is achievable. I always finding that highly motivating.

Is there any particular activity, sport you particularly enjoy?
  • golf is my only sport. i use to be able to walk 18 holes but now im soo out of shape and because its winter time here in michigan i cant really do that

it's still burning calories and that's the important thing. You can do it. Really you can. Just try and see if you can find some spare time in your day and work from there. As, you can walk. So that's always a good start. Do you have an MP3 player at all?
  • no i dont..all i have is my cell phone, and lost all my music on my computer

Could you afford a cheap MP3 player? I know you can often pick them up online real cheap. Or does your mobile store/play music?

Also, if you have the means, invest in a Heart Rate Monitor. They are very motivating in getting moving physically. And realize that you get to EAT those yummy calories you burn, which is also a great incentive to get yourself moving a little more, especially as you tweak your caloric intake. Baby steps. Don't try and change everything today. Make small goals. Park farther away from entrance to stores, take one flight of stairs instead of the elevator, DEFINITELY start weight lifting, and look and join some groups on here that obtain to your goals for continuous motivation and encouragement. Success stories a must. Try checking out the success of some of these cool guys -

losing weight is 80% nutrition. you need to find your biggest problem with food, and tackle that straight on. you say you work as a chef at a bar, and therefore you are surrounded by poor greasy food; and you are a delivery driver, so you are probably forced to eat on the go most of the time.

both of these issues can be taken care of by preparing your meals and snacks a head of time. on a free day, grill up like, 4-6 pounds of chicken breast, and seperate them into 6 ounce packages. those make great on the go snacks with a couple of slices of bread, or a whole wheat wrap. you can also stick them in a salad. likewise, when you're cooking at home, make a weeks worth of food, and seperate the servings in plastic containers. being winter, foods like stews, braises, and chilis are great for this.

i always eat breakfast because it helps me not be famished by midmorning or early afternoon. some peanut butter and oatmeal, or a pb&j sandwich are great. eggs and toast are good too. just try eating breakfast if you don't already. breakfast like a pb&j sandwich can be made the night before and stuck in the fridge. oatmeal can also be made in bulk (about a weeks worth). undercook it, so when you heat it up, it doesn't get dry.

snacks like almonds, cashews, apples, bananas, yogurt, and carrots are great for on the go. but them in a plastic bag and keep them on you. i always have a lunch cooler bag with me, and usually keeps things nice and cool for about 4 hours, so i don't worry about anything getting spoiled.

preperation is the key to success.

Do you have c.d's? You could add music from them onto your computer and then onto your mobile.

If you have internet access on your phone you can download pandora or slacker radio and stream free music. That's what I listen to when I work out.

Everything that is written above you should follow. I was going to respond with you could easily lose 100 lbs with just making the nutritional changes. Maybe not easily, but if you follow a strict nutrition plan would be my 2 cents. I will add drink a lot of water, many times when you think you are hungry you are really thirsty. I have lost all my weight within the last year. Eat high protein and high fiber foods which will keep you more full compared to heavy carbs and processed meals. For quick meals, I usually they have protein meal replacement bars. Atkins makes them as well as Kelloggs Special K bars. I will usually add a fruit and it's under 270 calories and can keep you full for around 4 hours.

yes, forgot to say to drink water. it's become so second nature for me to walk around with a poland spring bottle, i don't even think about it, or even log it here.

what he said about high protein and high fiber foods is true. you know an apple has a lot of fiber, and as much energy as a soda? i replaced my 3pm soda with an apple, and i have tons of energy. those meal replacement bars are great, just watch out. its easy to eat two or three of them in fifteen minutes and you've just consumed 600 calories.

pre-logging your food for the day is a great way to stick to your plan. i logged everything the night before. and like this guy said, i lost these 32 pounds in just the last six months, most of it in the first 3. last 12 pounds came of slower because, well, thats what it does, and because i started strength training.

    It's a JOURNEY....
DETOX YOUR HOUSE - donate to shelter...
PRE-LOG YOUR DAY...You won't believe how helpful this is.
WATER - MIN. 8 - 8 OZ. GLASSES (can do more...weight divided by 2)...That's a major flush. Agree, with sometimes we think we are hungry but we are actually dehydrating and need water. (NOT SODA, FRUIT JUICES).
WALK MINIMALLLY...Find a place (Malls open early just for that reason.)
ABSTINENCE DURING WORK TIME ...eat only foods that you have prepared at home.
HIGH PROTEIN (clean eatting - chicken, fish, less lean been/pork...nothing processed)
HIGH FIBER (clean eating - vegetables/fruits - all the berries, apples, oranges, grapefruits)

OH, YEAH LAZINESS IS NOT AN OPTION.:flowerforyou:
