Am I the only one with no "target" weight?

I was just wondering if I'm the only person here that doesn't have a target weight.

There are reasons for this, I suppose the main one would be that I've been fat all my life - well at least all of my adulthood and most of my chilhood, and I don't know when I'll be comfortable with my weight.

Does anyone else have this kind of attitude to when their weight loss campaign will be "finished" and maintenance begins? Its just everywhere I look, I see everyone has a goal but I just kind of want to keep going until I'm happier with my weight, with how I feel...to be honest, I thought a couple of stone (now, in my weight loss) would be enough to make me more comfortable, but now I'm here, I feel that I need to lose more.

I realise there is the standard healthy weights that you should be, but I feel that I don't necessarily need to be that kind of weight to feel happy. It may turn out that I DO feel happy at that weight, but right now, I'm not aiming for that. Does that sound silly?

I don't have a real target weight either. I have a goal in mind, but it's more of a lower threshold. As in, I know I shouldn't lose x amount because I'd be too thin. I started out with only a few extra pounds, nothing unhealthy. I lost 8-10 pounds, and I look great now. I could probably lose another 10 and still look great, but I'm more focused on improving strength and speed these days.

I don't know where my journey will end because I don't know how I will look or feel at a specific weight and I don't really totally buy into BMI's or how other people look based on their weight. I'm just setting myself a series of smaller goals to get me to where I decide I want to be. That will also have to take into consideration what I have to do to keep me at that weight, if I have to work out 7 days a week and eat 1200 calories a day for the rest of my life that will not be my target weight!
  • Oh Pupcamper, I agree completely. I do see this as a lifestyle change, Id just rather have maintenance a little less strict. I know so many "thin" people that do eat junk and stuff, I don't want to never eat junk again...I like junk sometimes lol

You're not alone. I'm more concerned with inches lost and getting fit then I am with the number on the scale. As I build muscle with my workouts, this will mean that I might weigh more but have less inches. So, really, I'm just shooting to get into smaller sized clothes but don't really have a goal size yet.
  • I am the same I do this for health. That is the only way i will see results. I will rely on my clothes and energy level to tell me whether or not I am doing ok. And also stabilizing my blood pressure. I am also going into this gradually, because if I make too much of a drastic change I know I will get frustrated and give up. So for example I am not planning on cutting out a particular food group, I will however eat way less of it and stay away from greasy, sugar and fatty foods, and work out 3 days per week. Later when I am at a good pace I will bump up my workout to 4days then 5 days. I do this because if I weigh and do not loose weight I will loose motivation.

I don't have a specific weight in mind either.

I started 211 and now weigh 174. I went from a 18 to 10 and have confidence again. If for some reason I could never lose another lb I'd be content.

I do however, want to get closer to "goal"...what that number is, I don't know yet. Heck it's been so long! LOL My healthy range goes to 154 so I'm shooting for 140-150. It may be more or less when I get there depending on my body composition when I get there. I could weigh a lot but be muscular, or less with no muscles. I'm shooting more for fitness/tone goal.

I don't have one. I'm just kind of doing it one small goal at a time. If I look at the big picture, for me, it would be so overwhelming that I could not do it. So, for me, ten lbs at a time!!!

    I don't have one either :)

I am going to start maintenance when I feel good about myself & look (to the eye) slim & toned!
