I just bought a new Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender ( I am completely in love) eating fruits is now bearable. Its not that I don't like fruit. . . I love fruit but for some crazy reason I hate eating it by itself (unless its mango). So the past couple of days I have been making a smoothie. Right now using fruits that are on the verge of being tossed out because I didn't eat them in time BUT today I bought strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, banana, kiwi and pineapple. My blender is up and ready and I am open to all recipes!

Recipes I have made the past few days for your tasting pleasure:

1/2 cup fresh pineapple
1 small apple
10 blueberries
1/3 cup banana nut granola
1 banana
1/3 cup plain chobani yogurt
1/2 cup of almond milk

1 cup of almond milk
1/2 cup blueberries
5 black berries
1 banana
1/2 cup pineapple

I like making breakfast smoothies. They typically consist of the following:

    1 banana
1/2 cup triple berry medley (frozen)
4 spoon fulls of vanilla yogurt
    a few ice cubes
1 cup V8 Splash Berry Blend

Here's what I've been drinking for breakfast lately:

    8 Oz Vanilla-flavored Almond Milk.
1 small or 3/4 medium frozen banana
    1/2 C blueberries
1 scoop unflavored New Zealand Whey protein
Ice to make 24 Oz volume.

Delicious, filling, and under 350 Calories with 30 grams of protein.

I used to do the Abs diet, but it was pretty expensive to keep up with, so I just kept up with the smoothies. They are actually really good, one of my favorites is a strawberry smoothie and the recipe is:

1/2 cup low fat van yogurt
    1 cup 1% milk
    2 tsp peanut butter
    1 cup strawberries
    2 tsp whey powder
    6 ice cubes

it makes two servings drink 8 oz and the calories are pretty decent 186 for 1 serving.

  • Just got a magic bullet for Xmas

    A bit of crushed ice
    1 med banana
2 TBS smooth peanut nut butter
    2 TBS ground flax seed
    2 TBS oatmeal
    1/2 cup almond milk

The measurements are approx. as I just throw them in. I have added, broccoli, lettuce, bell pepper also just turns a bit green, the PB and banana covers most tastes. Have fun with your new HBSSB!

  • Little tip for the bananas!

I like to buy the bananas that are overly ripe in the grocery store (they are cheap) and when I get them home I peel and put them in a freezer bag and freeze them! I then add the frozen banana to the smoothies!

Like the previous post, I peel, chop and freeze over-ripe bananas. For my morning smoothie I use frozen banana, skim milk, nonfat yogart, 1 scoop of whey protein, flax seed meal, oat bran and sometime a little peanut butter. Not sure about the amounts--I just throw some in.

in any fresh fruit smoothie, for an extra kick of greens, throw in a couple of leaves of kale and a teaspoon of honey. Delicious and really really good for you.
