P90X and an old lady

I was talking to my daughter yesterday about wanting to get some new workout DVDs to do in addition to Zumba. She said she was going to loan me her P90X DVDs because she thought I'd love it. I've seen many posts about P90X on here and it always sounded really hard and like it had a lot of weights involved.
So my question is, what is the likelihood that a 50 yo cardio lover is going to love or even like P90X? Is it really fun enough (as my daughter suggests) to make me want to do it?

First off, 50 is not old. P90x can be done using resistance bands as opposed to weights for everything (including the pull ups). It is a very challenging program but if you are already fit then you should be able to do it. Do your best and forget the rest! It also has very limited cardio (only 2 days a week).0

Pull ups?!?! Oh I hate those. I've never been able to do them except when I had a universal gym that had a 'stand' for your knees that took some of the weight. (have no idea what that's called but you only lifted part of your body weight depending on how much weights you used). But I am very curious about doing a pull up with resistance bands.0

They wrap the resistance bands around the pull up bars and pull-down versus a standard pull-up. One of the nice things about the program is that there are always 3 or so people on the video doing it and they vary how they do it so you can figure out what works for you.
Here's a video I found with the basic idea.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQUGnF-5PHM

Thanks! I'll check that out this evening. I'm at work right now and they block youtube.0 -
I personally am a big fan of the Pull Up assistance band from Beach Body. I personally want to strengthen myself enough to DO pullups correctly, good form.
I am just now getting to the point where I can do a few, completely unassisted, but its taken a long long time. and losing weight, and building up muscle in arms, back and core. I am still working on this.

The band made my assisted pullups so much better, as I am more correctly working the correct muscles with better form.
Alternatively, they can be done with a chair or stool. (but assist band is better)
50 is not old.I am 47, and have done P90x a number of times, with heavy weights, and get better every time.
It is scalable, just do YOUR best, modify modify modify as needed - and keep coming back. After 90 days you will be surprised at your improvement.0 -
I do this and I am 43 - well I am on hiatus thanks to surgery. I didnt start exercising until about 2 years ago so I am sure it would be no problem for you. It's based on what you can do. You push yourself to do more and want to do more to see yourself improve. I made it 4 weeks and could really see an improvement. I dont use the pull up bar either and have been using the resistance bands. Still a great work out!!

I have a friend on beachbody who is 62 and she's doing P90X AND INSANITY. She's awesome! I can't even do the things she does, she has much more stamina and will even do them back to back. Amazing. So I'm sure you can do it too!0 -
I can't answer your question about P90X because I'm just ordering it today but you made me laugh. No way are you old at 50!!! Go for it...I understand you can work at your own pace.0
