Calorie question

Hi,
I have always done Weight Watchers so I'm new to dealing with calories.

Can you tell me, the calories that I'm allowed to eat in one day according to the food tracker... do I have to eat 500 less than this to cause a deficit or is that already calculated into the amount I'm allowed based on my weight etc?

Thanks,

Nadia

It already calculates the deficit for you based on how much weight you told it you wanted to lose.

You enter your height, weight, and amount of weight you'd like to lose a week and it calculates it for you. I readjusted mine today to lose 2 lbs. a week.

Your total cals, as given to you by MFP, already figures in the calorie deficit. If you said you wanted 1 lb loss each week, your daily calories are already 500 less than maintenance.
  • ok, thanks for that. I suspected that was the case but was not 100% sure. have a good day everyone!
  • More psychological but I like to set mine to maintain weight and then shoot to have 500+ calories extra at the end of the day. Makes days when I am 400 extra looks better than 100 negative. Also gives freqent reminders of how life will be when I hit my goal weight and can enjoy those extra 500-600 calories...though eating paleoish I am not exactly missing them at the moment.
