Keeping it off

Any success stories of keeping the weight off for a year or more? I'm a classic yo-yo dieter. I have never had problems dropping the weight, but have always put it back on. I'm looking for practical, everyday suggestions...

Thanks

I am a reformed yo yo dieter, doing it most of my adult life. I lost 30+ pounds with the help
of a trainer and so far have keep it off for 14 months or so.

Personally, I think the key is to NEVER give up, NEVER stop. We all have a slip up now and then-
the trick is not to let that one snack or meal, turn into a day, then a week, then a month, etc.
Get right back in it! Even when you don't "feel" like it, go to the gym, go for a walk or whatever
it is you do for exercise. I'm sure you make time for everyone else. Now is the time for YOU!

    Just Keep GOing ON!

Yes, I have. The best advice I have is to continue doing what got you to your goal. If you changed your eating habits, stick with those habits. If you added exercise, continue exercising. This is why I think it's important to have a diet and exercise plan that you enjoy while losing, because you just might need to stick with it forever.

The best way to keep it off is to eat clean and exercise/be active regularly. Also increasing lean muscle mass will help as your metabolism will increase.

I lost 89 lbs - hit goal in November of 07. I stay within 4-5 pounds of my goal weight for about a year. Then was within 10 pounds of my goal for about another 2. I'm currently 20ish pounds over goal and working to get that back off. Maintenance is a *****!

I thought I might give a more detailed update, although I have reached my goal I have been working very hard to tone and maintain my current health.

I exercise 1.5 to 2 hrs a day 6 days a week and eat an average of 2600 cals per day. Three of those 6 days of exercise are weight lifting days. I still eat very healthy and even though I indulge in a cookie from time to time I have no desire to eat sweets any more. I just don't fee like I need them. I no longer look at food as a reward at all, it is nourishment for my healthy body, instead I like feel that to be able to workout as hard as I do and feel so strong and beautiful is the reward I enjoy every day :)
