You look great! My husband has sleep apnea so bad that we sleep in different rooms...at his sleep study he stopped breathing 90 times in one hour...it's horrible. He is trying to join me in this journey, but having trouble getting the motivation.
Tell you husband he can lose weight or Die...his choice.0 -

Dude, I'm telling you for sure that it's was the weight. I have Obstructive Sleep Apnea for years. My Dr. told me, you want to get rid of it, get back to the weight before you had it.
My sister died of complication for it. It's for real and life threatening.
Super Job getting all that weight of and saving your life. You look Awesome.0 -

I has sleep apnea.
That's when you're so fat, the throat blubber clogs your wind pipe while you sleep.
I lost the weight, and felt GREAT after losing 40 lbs - no more sleep apnea!
It was horrible.

First, let me just congrat you on a remarkable job! You look fantastic! Second, I want to thank you for bringing this condition to the community. I am considering taking the sleep study myself because I have started snoring terribly (so my husband says) and waking up abruptly throughout the night, looking around for water that I keep on my nightstand for just such occasions. The water usually calms me down, but not my fear. My husband won't admit that I have gain some weight, but he does say that, "you never use to snore ... I don't know what changed." I never considered that the weight gain could be contributing to a possible sleeping disorder. Now there is more of a reason to make a lifestyle change to save my life! Thanks again for sharing your story and keep up the great work!

I appreciate it tsegars. I hope everything works out. Sleep Apnea is very serious. I learned that first hand. Keep me posted.0 -
congratulations on your loss!!! You are doing great! Im glad your sleep apnea is under control as well. I wish my osn would do this.I worry for him he has hard time breathing and he is 23! It is not that i did not teach them better. I actually ate great when they were home and i made sure they did as well both my boys were healthy. Now they make there own choices, and he has gained alot of weight since he left home. Very sad.
So happy you put this on here maybe it will help others, it may be amotivation to keep on track!0 -
since i lost a bulk of my weight i dont have sleep apnea any longer either.. good for you!!!!!0

I have SA too. I've had it for about 8 yrs. now. I wear my CPAP to bed everynight and rely on it to help me sleep better, feel more refreshed in the morning and rid me of waking with morning headaches. I don't mind it, but I wish I didn't have to wear the mask to help me sleep or should I say stay alive. I'm not a very big person, but i'm over weight and even when I've lost weight I still needed to use it. I was told by my neurologist that it can be hereditary. My mom has it and my brother who died 6 yrs ago at the age off 44 had it too. I'm not taking any chances despite how much weight i lose. But great for you if you don't need it. Congrats!0

I can only hope that as I continue to lose weight, my symptoms will decrease as yours have done - and reading everyone's stories gives me that hope!0

Wow!!! You look great! And the thing is, I have sleep apnea, but it never once dawned on me that losing weight would help that. Yet another bonus! Thanks for sharing.0

Thanks for sharing your story. You look Amazing. Congratulations.
I have Sleep Apnea and the doctor said I have to get the CPAP. He said because of Sleep Apnea, I put on weight (lack of sleep) and might be the cause for the hypertension. Somehow using a mask during sleep did not appeal me and hence want to work on loosing weight first and see if it gets cured. With your story you gave me inspiration and more motivation to loose weight. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work.0 -
I didn't read the entire thread. Sorry if this was said before. But, I know at least 10 people with sleep apnea. Everyone of them is more than 100 pounds overweight. I DON"T KNOW ANY skinny/fit people with sleep apnea.
But yet, when I speak with any of them, they blame all sorts of stuff EXCEPT their weight.0 -
No disrespect to your wife but OMG, you are sexy!! Congrats on all your progress and your improved health!0
-
On a serious note, normal weight people can have sleep apnea too, especially menopausal women.0

Glad to hear you're feeling better I know someone who was on a machine at night due to this (he was a body builder). Scary stuff.0

Wow! That's great! My dad had the same thing. When I was a teen, I would sometimes sit beside my dad while he slept at night because he was so scared he would stop breathing in his sleep. It was really scary. He knew he had to do something about it. He lost over a 100 lbs and no longer has sleep apnea. Anyway keep it up!0

You look fantastic, congratulations on your new improved health though, that is the most important thing we have in life.
On the other hand you might as well say losing weight cures sleep apnea, because in most cases (NOT all, MOST. There are patients with neurological impairment after stroke or similar diseases that can aso get it) it actually is caused by obesity and the fat around your neck. I'm really glad you raised awareness!0 -
DAMN. You look GOOD. Congrats on getting rid of the sleep anepa! According to my boyfriend I don't snore anymore so yay!0
-
WOW! Amazing transformation! You are an inspiration!!!

So happy for you... and your wife! My husband suffered from the same thing and I would sleep with one eye open most nights because his breaks in breathing were terrifyingly long. He lost 60 some odd pounds last year and has had the same results as you. This year it is my turn to lose the excess weight. Now we BOTH can get a decent night's sleep. Congratulations on all your hard work. You look amazing.0
