Protein goals

I'm just starting out on my journey to a healthier lifestyle and I could use some help.

A year or two ago I lost a fair chunk of weight. In addition to the obvious calorie control, I tried to eat as much protein as possible. I couldn't believe how great I felt. Not only did I lose weight, but my hair, skin and nails were incredible. So, I'm back on track calorie wise, but I'm struggling to up my protein.

Would anyone be willing to look at my food log and make some swap suggestions that would increase my protein? (also, do my current macros/goals seem reasonable?)

Thanks!

Btw, my log looks kinda wonky because I just realized you can change your meal names. I swear I eat dinner! :)

Lean Meats - Chicken, Fish - I like to have a large portion of chicken or fish with some fresh grilled vegetables if I can (granted, my family doesn't always want to eat grilled chicken with grilled veggies every night, but if I had my way....)
    Greek Yogurt
Egg Whites - nothing like an egg white frittata for breakfast made with leftover grilled veggies from last night
Nuts (but they're loaded with calories as well)
  • I think you need to eat more protein for breakfast. If you want yogurt, try Chobani's nonfat plain greek yogurt.

You can also eat eggs/egg whites

You can look at my food diary if you want more ideas...it's currently set at

    50% protein
    40% carb
    10%fat

Lean chicken, eggs, lentils are some of my leaner staples that have decent protein. You can try quality supplements too I guess but I will leave that to other experts. Google some bodybuilding articles on protein.

Look up the Bodybuilding Protein Delight in the recipes. May need to change it for caloric intake but for me, in which I strive for 200+ grams of protein a day, it does wonders. Give it a try.. I think it tastes quite good.

Maybe you could replace the Triscuits with a protein shake or some other high protein snack?

If it helps, I generally eat a high amount of protein, I have worked out that my body is a "protein type" and functions better with higher levels of protein, especially breakfast.

Feel free to check out my diary. I eat poached eggs most mornings, if I get bored with them then I go for high protein cereal, and eat lots of dairy and meat most days (have backed off a little this week though). It's not uncommon that I eat over my protein levels.

Happy to share my ideas :)
