You can do it. I too have been floundering around birthday cake. I am working on getting back my ambition as my weight is going up instead of down. I love  sweets. I think the best thing to do is not let yourself get hungry. That is always my downfall. I have to be prepared or I give up. So I take food with me that I can eat. Also you can request that your roomies leave your food alone--have a pow wow, tell them what you are doing and ask them to help you stay on course. Most people don't realize that they are tempting you--I start feeling resentful and then I eat (I am an emotional eater):grumble: I seem to always take vegies when we eat with my inlaws now, as they never have any--I had to get over the irritation and get on with it. Just remember you are strong and you can do this!!

Roommates suck- what I used to do was keep a mini fridge in my room for "drinks" but really stash all my health food in there. Also things like fruits and veggies and stuff that doesn't need to be refrigerated can be put in big bowls or containers to "decorate" your room and "remind you to eat healthy". That's what you tell them anyway and you make sure to lock your door or at least set up clear boundaries that you don't want people going into your stuff while you're gone. Having crappy roommates is no excuse! You can do this... if it makes you feel better when temptation comes up tell them 'looking good feels so much better than that could ever taste'.

Your health is about YOU! Just as eating that cake & ice cream makes you feel guilty & horrible about yourself. Eating right will make you feel like a winner. So hang in there, be strong & stay positive. In the end you are the winner!!

are they roommates or family? explain to them that you are trying to eat healthier meals and that it is very expensive. If they want to eat your stuff they need to chip in or stay away!! if all fails hide your food.
you can have cake and ice cream on your birthday. I celebrated my birthday a few weeks ago and I had went out to eat... I had regular food!! the trick is to make sure you don't overeat. and try to put in some extra workouts that week. enjoy your birthday!

remind yourself that you're doing this for you. explain to them how you feel. maybe they would like to join your healthy lifestyle. encouraging is spelled with an 'e'

First of all, decide that you aren't going to make excuses. It might be hard, but if you are determined to lose weight, you can make it work! Label your food and tell people that they can't eat your stuff. That's just simply setting boundaries that need to be in place anyway. Just because they are eating like crap doesn't mean that you should too. You are going to be the one losing weight and feeling better and they are going to wish they were in your shoes! I'm sure that other people can give you more pointers about what to do, but I just wanted to encourage you not to give up!

That would drive me nuts too! I hated when I had roomates. I told them either we only keep healthy food and everybody can split the cost, or lay off my food! They chose to leave my food alone, lol

As for motivation, remind yourself why you are doing this. I keep a picture of myself in a bikini at the beach, on the fridge. Everytime I open the fridge, I have to look at it.

Also, the two other girls I work with have lattes, and icecream, and pizza and whatever else they want, and before I would def join in, now I just keep telling myselfhow much better I'm going to look than they are! Vain or not, that's my biggest motivator

Hope some of this helps! Stay strong...

It is something you will always have to deal with- whether it be roomates, children, etc...

Healthy food does not have to be expensive. Example. For breakfast today I had egg whites with sauteeed red peppers and black beans. Could not have cost me more than 50 cents. I eat things that taste good so I do not feel deprived. I just ate a mango- and it was delicious and refreshing. Make sure you have delicious snacks at home so your roomates don't tempt you. I used to buy skinny cow ice cream cones and they were so good at only 150 calories each. I don't even like ice cream but if i did not have those cows around i would have dipped into my boyfriends Ben & Jerry's.

This is my new favorite quote " No food tastes as good as skinny feels"
