I was just wondering who/what inspired people to get in shape.

For me it was the inability to conceive. I am having fertility treatments and I strongly believe that losing weight is the key to getting my body back in a position where it will do what it is supposed to do. I also have a friend that was a UK dress size of 24 who struggled to lose weight and in the last 8 months she has gone down to a UK size 14. If she can do it then why can't I?

I have a year to lose circa 50lbs and I am determined to do it. For me, at the moment, it's not so much about weight or clothes size but more about BMI. I need to have mine between 20-25 so I'm aiming for 22 and I know that to get there I need to lose a certain amount of weight. Once I get on the waiting list I need to be on I can then focus more on have a body that i in great shape and not just in the right category of healthy/unhealthy.

Does anybody else care to share?

Good luck everyone.

I'm not sure if one person inspired me to lose weight. I feel like it was more of a group effort. My family always knew I was the "chubby" one and I think I was losing weight for them however i decided this year it will be different. Until I do it for myself it will be an on going battle.

In regards to your conceiving...did the doctors say it was your weight? I feel as though when its suppose to happen it will, no matter what your weight may be, Be patient, Be kind, Be positive. It'll all happen in time.

My inspiration is my health. I am 47 years old and I had a rare form of the disease Cushings. This disease caused me to gain weight at about 30lbs per month for over a year. I was eating only 1,000 calories a day for that year. I went to Curves Gym and my body was always extreemly hot. My family doctor had no clue what was wrong with me. He did not believe I was exercising and watching my food intake. I became diabetic. My blood pressure was uncontrolled, I developed a stomach that looked as though I was about to give birth. I had these odd looking stretch marks deep purple and unlike ones I got from having children. I was finally sent to an Endocronologist and they found that I had a brain tumor on my pituitary gland. I had the surgery to remove it and my pituitary gland also. I am now adrenal insufficant and take replacements for the lack of having that gland. I have had so many hurdles but just this past November I went to a new Endo for a second opinion and with an added hormone that my brain does not produce any longer... I am now able to regain muscle strength and exercise.

So my health inspiration motivates me so much "to love myself and feel like me again"
