Bacon and sodium?

I love some protein on a Saturday morning, I love sausage, and bacon so much! But I was just looking ahead at calories for tomorrow and noticed how much sodium is in bacon. Is this okay for me to eat? I know there are low sodium bacon out there, but I have some bacon I took out of the freezer for tomorrow and I want to eat it. Someone explain this? Thank you!

If you want it eat it, bacon is pure crap, so worrying about the sodium is really pointless...just eat it and enjoy it...0

If you are going to have it drink EXTRA water. This will help flush the sodium. For your health's sake I'm hoping you go for the nitrate free stuff......Just sayin'.0

as long as it's because yo ulove it, because there's no nutritional benefit to it. I think you shouldn't restrict anything out of your diet if you truly love it...so Dave, enjoy that bacon.
nope...love bacon...its good....eat it0 -
no value? bacon has protein...fat...sodium...my body wants and needs all that...so ...u are wrong0

bacon and sodium?
where????0 -
If I could marry bacon...I would, three times over and be a poly. I love it that much.0

moderation is definitely key...but you're kidding yourself if you think it does any good for your diet. It is composed almost completely of fat, that alone strikes out any protein value it contains.. Bacon fat is roughly 40% saturated fat. There are 27 calories in 1 thin slice of Bacon. 71% fat, 1% carbs, 28% protein.0

Life is not about only eating foods that good for you. Mostly eating foods that are good for you is more than enough!0 -

BUT I use it to get my daily fat intake met quite frequently. I have bacon a few days a week! It has plenty of protein for its size, tastes great and high in fats to help boost my intake.

I like your answer I'm gonna eat bacon! I won't be eating it everyday...just a weekend thing. I can watch my fat intake for the rest of the day. I am so excited to wake up tomorrow and eat bacon....haha0 -
You could try lower sodium bacon.0

Is this for middle bacon or shortcut? Because there's hardly any fat on shortcut bacon.
Even when we have middle bacon, I only eat the eye, not the streaky part.0 -
Bacon is the one food that I have cut out completely.
The sodium and the calories are just not worth it for me

Bacon makes everything taste better. If you are worried about fat buy center cut. More expensive but less fat.
As far as being bad for you...I seem to remember quite a few incidents recently where people were sickened and even died from fruits and veggies. It can happen with any food. Don't live in fear of eating something because everyone says it is bad. Dr. Atkins was 72 when he died and that was from hitting his head and not his high protein/fat diet.0 -

I'm amazed at what people will justify and pull from a post to suit their own needs. Yes I said it's not a healthy choice of protein. I never ONCE said DO NOT EAT IT! I said in moderation it can be in anyones diet, and your statement, people being sickened by eating fruits in veggies is like justifying a 40 yr smoker to never contracting cancer, pure silliness. Anybody can overindulge in any matter of food, I thought this site was learning the values of proper eating and fitness not justifying what "good" or "bad" foods were. Seems to be most people on this site, just want to to eat whatever it is that fits their calories for the day regardless of wether there's health benefit to it or not.0 -
that's why there is turkey bacon YUM!! =]
still quite a bit of sodium, but less fat.0 -
Just how much bacon are you eating that you have to be concerned about the fat? Yes it's high in fat but you aren't going on an all-bacon diet.0

I love bacon sandwiches and normally have a couple a month as a treat - i haven't and won't give up on any foods ( as i crave things more when i do that ) its all in moderation. So i would say yes enjoy your sausage and bacon in the morning xx0

eat it anyway, I love bacon, anyone coming from a primal viewpoint will agree that sodium shouldn't dictate everything that you eat. I just watch out for sodium nitrate and nitrite in all my meat products0
