    advice please :frown:

there is a family (husb/wife with baby on the way and 2 puggles already) who will happily take my new puppy for me.

her vet visit went fine. she has kennel cough and i have the antibiotics for it.

i realize that the older the puppy gets, the harder it will be to get her a different home. so do i take this opportunity of a family who wants her and thus re-establish peace with hubby?? kids will be heartbroken.

    thoughts??

I hope I'm safe to say this here, I've not seen any men in here yet! Do any of you notice a fluctuation in weight during your time of the month? I know we aren't supposed to weigh every day, but I do every couple days. I've noticed a slight gain and I DON'T like it!

I've noticed it too. There have been some months I've even gained up to 2 lbs just before starting.

HI, stay-at-homey's! This is my first post here, so I'm going to jump right in!

I stay at and homeschool; I have 4 kiddos, ages 11 down to 2. I lost 75 pounds from Aug 2007-June 2008, and have kept it off. I'm looking to lose about 10 more.

I normally exercise about 10am when my kids take a break ffrom school -- I use the Turbo Jam series form BeachBody. I also monitor my calories here.

This week, I'm visiting my mom several hours away from home, so I haven't been as diligent about the exercise, but I've surprised myself with really keeping my calories in check. I usually don't do that well when I'm away, but so far, so good.

Can't wait to get you know you all alittle better each week. :flowerforyou:

Stacey, I am a dog lover too. We have 2 dogs, a Toy Poodle and a Great Pyrenees. I would love to see you be able to keep the puppy. Is it possible to talk to the other family and to your husband about waiting a few days (maybe through the weekend) to see if your husband will come around to the puppy? It might just take him a little more time than the rest of the family. If that's not possible or it doesn't work, the kids will benefit more from a mom & dad who are happy together than from a puppy that brings discord to the home.

amy and all you other great ladies--thanks for your loving outpouring.

3 people called interested about the puggle pup--and i talked to the kids. didn't give them every reason, b/c as i explained to my oldest girl--some of the reasons are just for grown-ups, but basically said i made a big mistake and i'm so sorry. having a puppy right now is not good for our family and i'm so sorry i acted impulsively and now have this consequence.

well, at least they're not crying anymore. so hopefully tomorrow i can get the puppy to the new family--they have a boy and girl puggle already so now "ours" will have instant playmates.

thanks again for listening to my saga. :flowerforyou:

at passover time it's easy to get at grocery store that carry significant jewish/kosher inventory. otherwise, i wonder if you can order directly from manischewitz or streit's or osem (tho this is an israeli company so probably not so easy to do). or maybe the store will special order for you--i used to do that for a certain formula so i was sure to have enuf on hand.

:flowerforyou: morning everyone! today's the day i'm supposed to give the dog away. the kids are accepting it.

and now i want to change my mind AGAIN. she wasn't hard to take care of. we even gave her a bath this morning and it went fine.

the 2.5 y.o. hasn't done anything naughty. so it seems so easy...but what if a kid gets sick or some other such happening?? how will i manage it all??

therefore, i should go forward with the plan. cut my losses. help the kids accept that this was a lesson learned--that mommy shouldn't be so impulsive and that taking care of a puppy is a lot of work right now (and will be costly too, money we shouldn't be spending acc to dh).
    sigh....

((hugs)) dana--sometimes it can be too too much. just breathe. and try to make one right choice at a time. like right now i'm hungry but i need to have a glass of water first as i've only had 2 glasses today. then i will eat.

so each right choice is good in and of itself.
same for kids--read a book or give an extra hug to one child, and it will build from there.
you are not alone. lots of times many/all of us feel like the plates in the air are spinning too fast and one or two breaks. just keep moving forward in the best way you can.

    (((hugs)))

    puppy drama update

we will be keeping the puppy--for now. i have told dh the decision is on hold till he and i can talk about the dog, but really the bigger stuff that buying the dog is a symptom of. i told the kids we will have her at least till sunday. and i've called the girl who would take her that i need more time to work this out.

the truth is: we ARE keeping the dog FOREVER--unless my allergies/asthma don't subside. i am allergic to her but in a matter of weeks, my immune system should settle down. at least that's how it was with my other dog that we had for 9 yrs.
i expl to my oldest that if i can't breathe with this dog, or any dog, then we won't be able to keep it.

please say an extra prayer for me, please that my allergies will calm down and the dog will be here--in her forever home.

man, sometimes it's hard standing up to the people you love and respect. but i know i have the strength to do so.
thanks all for listening and letting me write this out of my system. i am SO fortunate to have this thread, this site. :flowerforyou:

Jayberian - I tried the baked fried chicken nuggets using cornflakes tonight for dinner. It was delicious! And best of all ... the kids LOVED it! I made homemade baked potato chips using olive oil cooking spray and a nice salad to go with the nuggets. It was healthy AND kid friendly! My children even ate part of the salad! Thank you for the meal idea! :flowerforyou:

Stacey - How is the puppy situation going? I pray all is going well.

dog decision is still on hold. there is a girl who will BUY her from us--and reimburse us for any other outlays. that is good to have that option out there.

i'm also thinking that if we don't keep her and still want a puggle, it would be better to go to a reputable breeder rather than the pet store and start over with something more "known."

nose still stuffy, but lungs are ok and nose is less stuffy than at the start.

it is harder than i thought--the amount of direct supervision required for ALL the little ones has increased substantially. i may just want to take the out...

so we'll see how things go the next couple days.

    thanks for asking--and listening :flowerforyou:
