So I'm a TOTAL noob to running. I'm looking to start C25K, but want a really nice pair of shoes to help me out. Are Nike Free Run+ good for a beginning runner? I have neutral arches if that helps at all.

shoes are gonna depends on each individual person. I personally swear by the Nike Bowerman series, but everyone is different. If you can go to an actual running store, that would be your best bet. They actually know more about runnign and can give you tips on good shoes and ususally let you jog around in them a bit

One tip I will let you in on is that you may want sizes bigger than what you normally would wear. I wear a 7 in dress shoes and tried running in those, while training for a half marathon. I ended up being extremely uncomfortable and my feet just hurt. So I went to a running store thinking my shoes were worn out and the guy informed me that they were just too tight. Apparently alot of people make this mistake. Now I wear a size 8.5 for my running shoes and it feels soooo much better! It gives your feet more room to flex, i guess, but it worked for me....again everyone will be different though, but it may be something to look into
  • Nike free runs are light weight and have the support you need. I run about 3-4 miles a day and these seem to be holding up well. The only complaint I have is that putting these on and off are not as easy as laced sneakers. I use to wear Nike Shox that were so heavy when I ran and now I feel like I have nothing on my feet. Keep in mind everyone's feet are different so try them and see how they feel. Good Luck :)

Go get fit for shoes... you will NOT be sorry. Find a specialty store near you and see the professionals. Especially for a newbie, you need the right shoe for YOU, not necessarily what's cute or in style. Mine are boring, but they fit me correctly and support me so I don't have shin splints, knee pain, back pain.. you get the idea. When I'm done running, I'm tired and sweaty, but I'm ready to go again!!!!

A good pair of running shoes is all about performance. Don't worry about sales or cost, get what works!!! Get the cute ones for walking or going out... function over fashion for this runner!!!!

Totally Agreed! I started running in shoes that were wrong for me and messed up my knee. I've been on a budget and thought shoes are shoes. WRONG!!! Still paying for that wrong choice now.
