I know lots about it, but have never tried it. Laxatives and dehydration is not my idea of healthy weightloss.

I did it for 7 days. I lost a ton of weight but after coming off it I gained it all plus back. Its not as wonderful as it sounds. But good luck to you if you continue with it

My friend fainted while on this diet and had to be hospitalised. I wouldn't say it's a very healthy way to go!

My husband has done it several times. Always loses about 10 pounds, always gains it back--- as with any fad diet.

Skip the fad diets, and lose weight the healthy way. It may take more time, but in the long run will be better for you.

How does lemonade cleanse the body? I thought we had kidneys and a liver for that....Not attacking, just don't see the point of going on a dangerous, nutritionally void "cleanse"

"Lean muscle and fluids are the first to go on starvation diets, not belly fat,"
Johnson says. "And the problem is that when you lose muscle mass, you turn
down your metabolism, so it is counterproductive when you return to normal
eating because you will need fewer calories."

This is usually done for 10-14 days. Basically your entire intake of calories consists of the this "lemonade mix." It is 8 oz water, 2 tsp fresh sqeezed lemon, 2 tsp grade B organic maple syrup and 1/10 tsp cayenne pepper. You drink anywhere from 6-12 glasses of that per day. Each evening you take a night time laxative or herbal laxative tea and then in the morning you do a Sea Saltwater flush. It is basically a detox cleanse to clean your system out and with fasting also comes with weight loss. I am just trying to get rid of everything yucky in my body and then revamp the healthy eating at the end of it.

If these silly fads worked then there wouldn't be a need for MFP (and the rest of the diet/health industry). There are no short cuts. Burn more than you consume and you will lose weight.

Like atkins... prolly WORKS - but won't stay off - because you haven't really fixed the problem that caused the weight in the first place.

I've dropped 1 lb a day on Atkins.. gee - probably 5 times in the past 10 years!? Each time - great success, each time came right back.

This time I did atkins for 10 days - dropped 10 lbs, now using the app to "track caloric intake and burn". I no my calorie limits and this time - through the database of info, choices and portion control. It's gonna be easy to change the eating habits...

skip the sill diets, it comes down to "intake vs burn". Know what's going in and keep it less than what's burning out.

I don't think it's actually feces that is lost...

    Wrong.

No. Don't waste your time, money or health. The body does an excellent job of "cleansing" itself. Just treat it right and it will treat you right. There is no "cleanse" as effective as simply eating well.

"The best way to 'detox' the body is simply to let your body do its job. Unless you have a medical problem, your body takes care of itself quite nicely, experts say.

"The liver and kidneys are nature's best-kept secret, because they are the weapons to eliminate toxins from your body," says Gerbstadt. "If you are concerned about certain substances in your diet, it is easier and safer to simply eliminate [those substances] rather than engage in unhealthy detox plans."

According to Chau Che MD, with New York University:

"Despite evidence to the contrary, the idea that colon cleansing is therapeutic by removing impurities, lives on. However, these claims largely fail to consider normal physiology. The digestive tract has inherent properties that work to clean our colon. After food ingestion, the small intestine absorbs nutrients and contracts to move indigestible residue into the colon. The colon continues the digestive process by absorbing and secreting electrolytes and fluids while its resident bacteria ferments the undigested food products. These are just some of the many mechanisms in which the digestive tract works in order to ensure that the colon does not become encrusted with fecal matter as some products claim. The black, rubbery material passed on a colon cleanse is actually a byproduct from the supplements and fiber in the colon cleansing product as opposed to old fecal material, in which consumers are led to believe."

My sister has done this several times. I don't have her willpower! I couldn't go without eating that long! She always loses at least 10 lbs, but does gradually put it back on (although she's a tiny little thing who only weighs maybe 110 and doesn't need to diet anyway!!!). I know its great to cleanse the body and get rid of all the toxins (which is why she does it, not for the weight loss), but I think it hard on your body to do it personally. And I can't cook food for my hubby and kids at supper and not eat! I like food too much!
Best of luck either way! :)
