Hi, I made the decision to use a personal trainer. Where I live, a personal trainer is more affordable than in the metropolitan areas. I had my first session today. I would love to be friends with anybody who is currently going through the same journey of using a trainer. Please share your experiences with me. What advice did they give? How long and how frequent are workouts? How many calories do you burn in a workout? etc. Thanks!

I love my personal trainer, she really pushes me. I workout with her once a week for an hour, we typically do circuit training (by my request)

    Common circuit
5 min walk on treadmill for warm up

    Plank
    Sumo squat
    burpees
    bicep curl with dumbells

Advice she gives just varies on the day, that's a pretty broad question. She's great about answering questions about what I should do that day or a question about form or how to work a machine even if it's not my day with her.

We'll do 3-4 different circuits over that hour.

We worked for 75 minutes today on arms, stomach and stretches. Used exercise ball with weights, and exercise band. Did repeated intervals of repetitions and cardio bursts of jogging and squats.

Make sure the trainer works for his/her money, i see many trainers at my gym have people run on a tredmill for half an hour. waste of money.

    Same!

My trainer knows that I have no interest in using any machines during my workouts with her. I get my cardio in on my own and I know how to use the weight machines. I want to learn as much as I can so I can be self sufficient in the gym.
