I've heard cinnamon!
I heard that too. Last time I lost weight before I got pregnant I ate 1/2 cup sugar free apple sauce and put cinnamon in it and something was working. So I still add cinnamon to everything I can.0 -
I have heard that vitamin B12 can help with metabolism, as well as give you more energy throughout the day. Vitamin D and B6 in combination have been shown to speed up metabolism.
I did all three and have seen success, but it could just be coincidence. It doesn't hurt to try!0 -

I don't watch Dr. Oz but he is not a quack for recommending energy work or ayurvedic treatments...I used those therapies plus a naturopath to cure a rare, crippling form of arthritis when conventional therapies/drugs were too damaging to my kidneys. It's great to see a Dr that's open minded to natural therapies that have been around for ages.Ive seen lot of things about speeding up your metabolism on Dr. Oz. Some of the suggestions were to use spices like cinnamon and cayenne pepper when cooking. There's even one guest on the show who would eat a tablespoon of pure cinnamon every morning. Dr Oz also suggested taking vitamin supplments like vitamin B12, drinking green tea and coffee and to use ginger when cooking. Here's the link:

More meals a day thing is a myth. I've been eating 2 meals a day and fasting for 16 hrs every day for a year now. I'm a natural bodybuilder and I am the biggest and leanest I have ever been (98kg with abs). So many years I wasted my life eating 6-8 meals.
That said. You can still get results eating 6-8 meals, obviously. But you are getting results in spite of doing this, not because of it.
I'm guessing you want to speed up your metabolism so you can eat more and be more satisfied? In my experience eating more regularly just made me more hungry and bigger meals were more satiating.0 -
Eat clean, drink loads of water and exercise regularly (including resistance and weight training). Once you start to build lean muscle your metabolism will work more efficiently and thus burn calories quicker
You just made an oxymoron there that is actually partially true.

If it is more efficient, it will not burn calories more quickly, it will burn them slower, because it is more efficient.
And that is exactly the effect that can happen when you do mostly/all cardio workouts, and don't increase your intensity.
Your muscles and heart get better at doing pace x, they get more efficient, and pace x no longer is the strain on the body it once was. Now you do not burn as many calories doing pace x. And you wonder why you slowly start to gain weight when you are doing the exact same workout you've always done.
Same could happen with weight lifting, never increasing intensity.0 -

I'm glad I'm not that only one that thinks Dr. Oz is a quack. Ok, he may be a real doctor but he's also a TV personality that delivers sound bites for ratings and regurgitates some common findings in publications without the depth, analysis or application needed to make them actually true or effective. I'm sure he's a fine surgeon but he should stick to that. I caught several episodes of "The Doctors" on TV....what a horrific show!
I think it's all about balance, good eating, exercise and keeping active. Active, meaning spending at least 60% of your day NOT sitting (which most of us do), but being on your feet and/or moving as much as possible.0 -
I Just read in fit magz last night that it is all about weight training ... It is also age and the make up of your body .. The only way to speed it up is to get stronger so your body works harder all day long ...0
