There's a Salmon in my Dishwasher!

I tried this last night, and it was super delicious! Just take a piece of salmon filet (mine was 1lb) and lay it on two pieces of foil. Cover with 1 T olive oil, chopped 2 cloves of garlic, and 1 sliced lemon. Then seal (TIGHTLY) and run in the dishwasher (with dishes and soap even!!) on the hottest setting with a heated dry. It should come out perfectly done!

ETA: It goes on the TOP RACK of the dishwasher!

Aside: The only weird thing is my garlic turned sea green. I think it reacted with the aluminum and the acidity of the lemon. It didn't taste bad, but if this bothers you, use powdered garlic or another seasoning, like dill.

Welcome!

Why not just pop it in the oven? Or over a steamer basket on your stovetop?

I'm trying to figure out the benefit of the dishwasher thing.

I don't usually run the drying cycle on my dishwasher. It'd take an hour to wash and another half hour or so to dry - isn't the oven or broiler faster ?

Right? Salmon take only about 15 minutes in my oven.....why would I risk SOAP in my food!?

Sorry but this is a no-way recipe for me!

Well, it saves energy, if you were going to run the dishwasher anyway. And it's just kinda fun! i mean, why not!

It only saves energy if you normally use the heated dry cycle, which wastes energy.

can I use jet dry with this? Mine doesn't have a heat cycle. its all energy efficient.

I mean, we could argue if using a heated dry cycle or the oven wastes more energy...but come on  ...the point is the novelty of it! Live a little! :drinker:

Why did I just have flashbacks of Kramer making salad in his shower?

Fans of Seinfeld should get this.

You might like the cookbook "Manifold Destiny". It's all recipes you can cook on your car's engine during trips of various lengths. Pretty cool!

If it doesn't use heat, I don't think it would cook the fish :frown:

My husband is my dishwasher. He said I may not stuff a salmon wrapped in foil in him anywhere.

Yep... could be a book title.

I've heard of this before. I'm still not going to try it. I like to keep my appliances and their uses all separate and stuff. My ancestors didn't climb their way to the top of the food chain to cook fish in a dishwasher.
