What's your "Sweet Tooth" solution?

I've learned to not ignore my sweet tooth or it will come bite me with a vengeance (and I give in, grab, and go nuts on the sweet of choice at the time). I'm a cake/pastry kind of sweet tooth girl. Never been much on candy.... ok except reeses cups LOL!
My favorite "solution" is this - I will make a single serving of cake in the microwave. I won't make a full cake at home. Nope, no way. Too tempting.
The dry cake mix is kept in a ziplock in the fridge, and when my sweet tooth craving gets the better of me, I go out and create just one serving. Measure out the dry ingredients, then the wet. Since I'm not about to bust an egg for a small portion, I just use an egg beaters product for that. Anyway - I cook it in the microwave.
The last one I had (which I logged here... I log each ingredient individually since there are only like... 3), I topped with 1T of peanut butter. Let it melt just a little, then started to spread it around. It was delightful
Alternate toppings can be a dusting with powdered sugar, or even if the cake is cool, maybe whipped cream.
I REALLY need to be in the mood to go through the trouble - takes maybe 8-10 minutes from start to finish to make. I've had days when the craving hit me and my next thought was oh heck no, don't feel like having to get together all the stuff, etc.0 -
I try to find a balance between the two extremes. A small piece of a chocolate or a few gummy bears won't hurt if you have room in your calorie budget for them. One thing I found when I lost a bunch of weight before is that fun size bags of M&M's are only around 70 calories. One bag is usually enough to satisfy any craving...
Unfortunately this is the season where my favorite candy (Cadbury Creme Eggs) are all over the place so I've been trying to make room for those during my day. If I don't have room for the calories I don't eat them.0 -
I find sugar free drinks helps me. If im feeling a little hungry as well I normally opt for sugar free lemonade, or red bull.
During the day id normally have dilute orange (no sugar added) at only about 4 calories per 250ml glass. much better than reaching for the chocolate!
Gummy bear idea is very good, however I dont think i could trust myself with a box of them sitting in front of me all day!0 -
I'm the kinda girl that "just can't have one". I could fool myself into sucking on and eating ONE gummy bear, but I'd eat them all before the day was done.
I find a giant mug of tea with sweet comforting honey is great!
And recently, I discovered Pure Protein Bars. They have 19g of Protein, and they are ooey gooey chocolatey.0 -
Amy's Orange and Cream juice bar every evening instead of my bowl full of ice cream.
At work, I sometimes have a single hard candy which takes a while to melt away and leaves a very sweet taste in my mouth.0 -
I love the almond Val Nature bars.0

The dark chocolate sugar free Jello pudding is really delicious, a good serving size, and only comes in at 60 calories. I eat one almost every day!0

I tend to do myself a mug of low cal hot chocolate... Normally 40cals for a mug and I can then "afford" a biscuit which I munch on :bigsmile:0

Mint Herb tea with Truvia works for me while I'm at work & helps me increase my water intake. But, I also believe in not depriving myself. So, if I want cake, cookies or ice cream, I eat them. I just measure it & count it!
Quest protein bars, heated in the microwave for 10 seconds are fantastic! The Chocolate Brownie bar tastes like a brownie when you heat it up. And the cinnamon roll bar is very sweet and gritty tasting & when you heat it, it's like eating cinnamon roll cookie dough! AMAZING!0 -

Frozen medjool dates. Weird but they take forever to eat and they're soooo sweet.

I love gummy bears and sour patch kids.
1. Tart dried cherries. Emphasis on the tart, sweet cherries are not as good. These ones are amazing. They taste like the best fruit snacks ever. I have a small handful with some almonds. Also, great for oatmeal.
2. a truffle or square of chocolate. I love to stop at the chocolate shop and just buy one truffle (or some hot coco)
3. Tea. The ones that are dessert flavors. Add a little sweetener and milk and you feel like you are having, cookies, ice cream or whatever. Chocolate flavored, or vanilla, or hazelnut or caramel are my favorites.
4. Tangerines or kumquats. Their sweet tart flavor remind me of the best features of gummy candies
5. ANd if I have to have something processed: cliff kids twisted fruit or fruit roll up brand simply fruit twists. These are excellent to solve the sweet tart craving and only have 55-70 calories.0 -
I suspect there's one or two of us here who might admit eating an excess of sweets has contributed to our bodies that are clearly to short for our weight.
I'm curious as to what each of us does to help curb or satiate the urges. In my case, I have a container of Black Forrest Gummy Bears sitting on my desk at work. If one just chews or sucks slowly you can make one piece (8.5 calories) last for quite some time which in turn takes my mind off of the "need" for candy. For so few calories per “bear” I think it's a pretty cheap way of maintaining control.
Any other ideas that are working for "Ya all"?
Nothing will or would work for me AT ALL, apart from cutting out sweets completely.
I adore sweets, I love them so much I could quite easily forego all other food if I could just eat sweets all day.
If I were to start eating just one or two, it escalates, my willpower goes to pot and before I know it, I am buying sweets morning, noon and night and the weight starts to creep back on. That's why I am now trying to lose weight.
No, the only way I curb the sweet-tooth is to grit my teeth and purposely ignore cravings for sweets for the first two or three days and then the craving seems to disappear. If I were to have just one or two now though...... it would be a bad move for me.0 -

Nestle has hot chocolate that's only like 80 calories a cup (with water) That normally does it for me. Also, a piece of dark chocolate and water (I like water and chocolate together for some reason!?)0

It's a new thing for me, but I'm trying out the Yoplait Whips! Chocolate Mousse style treats. It's just enough chocolate to knock the craving off, but I don't feel too bad about it. It's a learning process. I'm open to suggestions!

Wine Gums are pretty good too.

I was very disappointed when I discovered wine gums contain no wine.
I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but a bit of dark chocolate is perfect when I want something sweet.0 -
