I *hate* being a bridesmaid!

UGH. So what are the chances that I could lose 9-10 inches off my waist by the second week of June? *LOL* OMG, every single bridesmaid experience I've had has sucked because of the dresses. Well, I guess it's really me and the fact that I don't *FIT* into the dresses, so I shouldn't really blame the bridesmaid position.

Anywho, the bride for this upcoming wedding decided to have the dresses made by someone she knows and she bought a dress pattern she wants all her girls in. I have no idea what happened, but the pattern she bought was for Little Misses. Meaning that the biggest sized dress that is available in the pattern is a size 32 waist. My waist at BEST is a 41. *SCREECH* OMG!

So.....meh. I ordered another dress pattern with a bigger size, unfortunately, it's not the EXACT same dress as the others...I wonder if anyone will notice. Hahahah..I guess I'll have to run it by the bride. hopefully she'll go with the whole "i'm the maid of honour so it's okay if my dress looks different" bit.

I wonder if super control underwear could even help me now...ah well, here we go. There's no harm in trying my best!!! Just needed to vent a little...thanks for "listening"!!!

been there! the dresses often actually do suck because many of them aren't flattering...
maybe try some spanx out! i never actually bought the real spanx (i was too cheap), but i've heard great things about them. and i wouldn't worry about the dress. everyone will be looking at the bride, anyway. and if she has a problem, i wouldn't take anything she says that might sound mean to heart. wedding planning can be very stressful, lol.

I've been in a few weddings..some brides don't think when they choose the dresses for their girls. I was the only attendant last year and had to wear YELLOW. Sunshine yellow. And a girl who wears size 18 should never wear yellow..

And the year before I got to wear a brown strapless thing. I am a size E! The strapless bra did not support my girls at ALL, and my back fat was on display for the world. The other 3 girls were size 0, of course.

If you are maid of honor, many brides don't mind if you look a bit different. My MOH was a Size 18-20 and she had sleeves on her gown since she was self conscious about her arms. If the bride is reasonable, she will understand that you will be on display too, and should look your best.

JLH is right about the Spanx or other girdle like things..I love my Spanx. They take inches off and smooth you out everywhere.

One concern about the "Little Misses" dress patterns..check the LENGTH of the finished garment. I think the misses compare with adult Petites...for the girls who wear dresses made from that pattern. If she is still in the planning stages she might want to change the pattern NOW before all the fabric is purchased.

    Good luck! :)

    Oh, one more thing.. lol

Whatever pattern you go with, check the back for the measurements. YOu may be a size 14 in every dress shop in the free world, but your pattern size on the envelope will say 18-20! ;)
