So I am thinking of having fish for supper tonight...more specifically Tilapia. Any cooking suggestions/ideas? I usually just spice it and broil it but getting kind of bored with that.

wrap it in bacon and bake it0

Wrap it in some tin foil with lemon juice (real lemon juice) and some pepper and steam it in the oven for 10-15 min. So yummy and tender.0

Search the recipe forum for "puffed tilapia". It's incredible! Kinda high in sodium though if that's an issue for you.0

papillote is fun. Wrap it in parchment paper and bake. Add lemon juice, a touch of white wine, and veggies : julienned carrots/red pepper/leeks/grape tomatoes/greens & fresh herbs like parsley or rosemary or whatever veggies & herbs you have on hand. Since it's wrapped up, it's getting a lovely steam.0

I sprinkle with Old Bay seasoning, wrap in foil, put on a baking sheet and bake for about 20-25 minutes0

I always find myself scrambling it up with egg whites, spinach and some sort of soft cheese (goat! neufchatel!) and a buttload of Mrs. Dash.0

I love Tony Cachere's on mine with lemon and garlic...broiled or grilled on the grill. I had tilapia last night!0

Seasoned panko crumbs
Wash: one egg, 1/4 C canola oil, 1 TB Dijon mustard - whip up..
Dip the tilapia in the wash, coat with bread crumbs and either do a pan fry or an oven bake..
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BABY!0 -
i sautee mine in coconut oil (unrefined and organic), lime juice, cumin. whenit is done I sprinkle some unsweetened shredded coconut and more lime juice.....
naturally I'll have it with a margarita! Have fun with foods!0 -
Tilapia is a very bland tasting fish, to me. I'd get fish seasoning, salt, pepper, and/or I've heard on putting mayo on fish....but that may be fattening.0

i just found this combo for my basa filets...black pepper, lots of dried thyme, and plum sauce! broil the plum sauce at the end, so good!!0

I'm with en papillotte--but you can do in it in silver foil if you don't have parchment. I put fish in with olve oil, garlic, lemon slices, capes, olives. numnumnumnum0

Tilapia just tastes like chewing on a wad of paper to me. Weird.0

I steam mine with brown rice (in a rice cooker/steamer) with crushed garlic, rosemary, kosher salt, a touch of soy sauce, chili powder and pepper. It is delicious, no butter needed0

I'm not a big fish eater but when I do, I use the Panko Crumbs, season with a little salt & pepper and Mrs Dash. I mix one egg with a little water, dip the fish in the egg/water mix then in panko crumbs... Bake at 350 on a foil lined baking sheet sprayed with non stick cooking spray, flipping a few times while cooking.0

I mix one packet of splenda w/some dijon mustard. Spread it on top of the fish, top that w/some lemon juice and capers. Wrap it up in foil and bake! It's yummy!0

Ooh, I love this thread! I am not a big fan of fish, but I have heard that tilapia is a good option that has a milder flavor. I tried making it once, and it was terrible. I just seasoned it and baked it, but it was NOT good. We ended up throwing it out and ordering pizza. I'd love some better recipes for it, so I can give it a 2nd try.0

when i get bored with just seasonings & lemon juice, i pull out the shake & bake for chicken & use that on my fish!
the parmesan crusted is awesome!! & what a change!!0 -
I fold it in tin-foil and George Foreman the heck out of it. Then I usually add some Mrs. Dash and some True Lemon (crystallized lemon because I never have real lemon in my house) and maybe a little Bragg Liquid Aminos. It's pretty good that way and practically no fat.
But the other ways sound delicious too!! I'm going to have to try some of them!!
Lyndi4 - If you do it on the George Foreman grill like I do, it hardly has any fish flavor at all. My sister and Mom hate fish with a passion but actually like it when it's cooked on the GF Grill. You should try it that way.0 -

This sounds great. I like to keep it simple and this is simple and delicious.0 -

Tilapia is the main ingredient for the traditional Peruvian (not imitations) Ceviche...., be careful, a little spicy.

I put it on a microwave safe dish, squeeze lemon juice, put on a pat of butter, cover with wax paper, and nuke it on high until it is flakey. I put lemon pepper on it at the table.0
