I always have trouble finding something healthy to eat in the morning before school. I don't have much time to prepare anything, so does anybody have any quick but healthy suggestions for breakfast? :)

I usually do a protein shake and string cheese on the days I dont have enough time....I often go with 2 scoops in my shake instead of one and add some ice!!!

My favourite is a small bowl of shreddies with a few crushed walnuts + almonds. keeps me going for ages. Either that or the oats so simple porridge. dead easy.

I make an egg white omelet with spicy chicken sausage, bell peppers and 2% cheese. It has under 250 calories and keeps me full all day. I make 5 of them on Sunday night and put them in ziplocks so that I can pop one in the microwave for one minute in the morning before work. They are awesome and it only takes about 20 minutes to make 5 on Sunday night. :)

1/2 toasted blueberry bagel with pot of yogurt on the side if I have time to toast! Or 1.5 servings of raisin bran on my rushed mornings.
  • Sometimes I have a natural unsweetened apple sauce cup...but lately I've been having Chobani Greek Yogurt. They have tonsss of flavors and are DELICIOUS! coming from a person who doesn't like yogurt much. the only downside is they're slightly expensive...but both are under 200cal each

    Haha if only.
  • 2 Eggs scrambled (in the microwave when rushed takes about 80 seconds if that!)
    on 1 slice wholegrain toast

greek yoghurt is awesome as mentioned before! love it with frozen blueberries/raspberries or chopped banana

If i'm really rushed i eat my brekkie at work, always keep a box of Special K in my draw and eat that at my desk :)

Love steel cut oats! You can also make these the night before in a slow cooker in a 1-3 ratio of oats to water... Really super easy and it is ready when you wake up! No reheating necessary!

Scrambled eggs, greek yogurt, salsa, almonds, fruit, cottage cheese. I eat at least one or two of those every morning, if not the whole bunch.

Most mornings I have a piece of fruit at home while I'm rushing around getting ready.. Then when I get to work I get a granola bar out of the snack machine and have it with my morning coffee. Breaking breakfast up into two parts keeps me from wanting a mid-morning snack.

And why, you may ask, do I get the granola bar out of the snack machine where it costs twice what it would cost to get a box of them at the grocery store? Because if I have a box of granola bars I will eat the whole box. :-)

If you feel like you want more how about a hard boiled egg? Boil up a dozen -- they keep for a long time in the fridge and if you don't have time to eat it at home you can take it with you.

Another suggestion -- english muffin with sugar free jelly and/or some low fat cream cheese. English muffins are shockingly low in calories!
  • whole wheat or 12 grain toast with peanut butter ( I prefer crunchy).
  • I take a turkey sausage link and microwave it...meanwhile, I put an egg white in a mug along with a little bit of chopped green pepper (they sell them already chopped in the freezer section of my grocery store, but you could take a fresh one, chop it up on a weekend day and throw it in the freezer so that it's ready for you in the morning)
Then, I chop up the sausage and toss it into the mug of eggs and peppers, microwave for a minute..top with a little salsa and sometimes a little cheese..Delicious! You'll get lots of protein and lots of flavor! Tastes like a McD's breakfast burrito :)

I do oatmeal like old fashioned oats. I make a one serving bowl in the microwave and I add things like1 teaspoon brown sugar chopped pears, apples, strawberries, almonds, walnuts, cinnamon. I always have a fruit or two and I make sure I add a little nuts. This will keep you full for hours and it is very good for you. Makes for less snacking during the day

I usually do 1/2c to 1c of lactaid cottage cheese or stoneyfield yogurt with 1/4c to 1/2c fruit or granola. Today I also had a 1/2c of OJ. I usually do a light breakfast with a mid-morning snack such as a hard boiled egg, 1/2 to 1 oz of swiss cheese, raw veggies, etc.

I have zip lock containers that are 1/2c and 1c in size so it makes measuring them out very simple. I break it all down as soon as I buy them to make snacks and meals as easy as possible.
  • I love Kashi Go Lean Crunch with almond milk. 260 calories with lots of protein, fiber, and yumminess!!! (Plus I actually feel full for way longer than a normal bowl of cereal.)

All of these are fantastic ideas, and I hope they help the OP, but they aren't great options for me. When I was at my biggest, my thyroid got slow, so they put me on pills for it. Now that I've lost some weight, the pills have sped up my metabolism hardcore and now nothing keeps me full for more than 3 hours. Fruit and health shakes barely keep me for 30 minutes. Greek yogurt makes me puke. Literally. But I have learned some really good tricks that sates even my furnace for a while- maybe they'll help you guys too.

Trader Joe's has an awesome cereal called "Super Nutty Toffee Clusters". It's delicious, the calorie count is decent, (especially if you have it with coconut or almond milk) and it kept me sated and full of energy for 4 hours once. Believe me, that's positively brobdingnagian. Also, (and I'm sorry, dareyoutomove) but Kashi boxed cereals are disgusting as hell lol, but their cereal bars aren't half bad. Even better if you're on the go. Make-ahead meals are brilliant. You can get little plastic cups with lids at costco or something and make parfaits. Just grab one and a plastic spoon on your way out the door. Or pumpkin raisin muffins. Or spinach wraps with eggs, sliced turkey and red peppers. Whatever, use your imagination and your free time wisely. Hope this helps.

Absolutely! I should mention that I add a little water in the egg whites and do a quick scramble so that they stay fluffy.. I make eggs in the microwave for me and the kiddos MANY mornings! So quick!
