New to this, hope I achieve my goal :)

Hi all, hope everything is going well for you all. I have just signed up and hoping to achieve my target weight. Im wondering, i am doing all i can on the food side of things however i have bad knee problems so cannot exercise as much as i would like and have to rely on day to day movement as my exercise.
I babysit a 13 month old who is walking and i run around after him and also working as a secretary with some warehouse thrown in and i try and walk the dogs when i can.
Would just relying on this make a huge impact on the time it will take to achieve my target?

Holding yourself accountable is a big part of losing weight. It points out what types of food you are having when, what types of foods are not helping you as well as what types of foods are not helping your weight loss.
I find it is a great tool and when i was working in the weightloss industry i couldnt stress enough how important tracking your food was.

Actually MFP subtracts calories so you can lose weight without exercise. But exercise helps as well as firms up body as weight goes down )0

Thankyou i do intend to stick to it.. been putting it off for ages convincing myself it could wait. I think now the time has come to do something about it. Been looking at pictures from what i was like a year or so ago and realised that thats the way i want to be again x0 -

I've found that the more I do things, the easier it becomes and then I can increase how often and how much I'm doing. Ease into it.0

Some firming up would be a VERY good thing, however like i say with the knee problems i find it difficult and im very reluctant because im pain after. The intent is there its just the moving forward and actually doing it.
But if you can lose weight without exercise it sounds brilliant! I think i do enough running around in my day to day jobs anyway by the time i even think about exercising i cant be bothered! I am intending to try and do more ie walking the dogs more etc0 -

if you stick to MFPs goals for you, you will lose weight with no exericse.
but there are health benefits to exercise that have nothing to do with weight loss. just do what you can and add more as you feel comfortable0 -

I feel for you
My GP says my weight isnt an issue with my knee problems unfortanately. Exercise or not they would still be the way they are. Supposed to be on crutches (because i cant afford to be out of work while they operate). I am trying to do more but im in so much pain after i just dont want to do it. Once i convince myself in my mind that its not actually as bad as i think MAYBE i will exercise more.

Because of a bad heart and diabetic neuropathy I was on a walker a few months ago. I know we have different issues but I was doing Zumba in a chair to get exercise. I found short exercises at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFHf7mRMTFA&feature=related.
Now I'm able to do 2-3 miles on the treadmill. Built up to that little by little.0 -
Youre off to a great start. The wonderful thing about MFP is that you lose weight by logging/tracking all of your food. When you work out its a bonus. Be honest with all of your logging and stay honest. Look into lifting weights since you cant do any high impact workouts due to your knee. Weights are good because they build muscle...muscle in turns burns fat.
Keep logging and you will do great. If you mess up one day just pick up the next meal. Remember this is a life change.

You must completely take ownership of your health and take the action that will propel you to the specific goals you seek to achieve. And no matter the challenges, there are always possibilities.
The ball is in your court, and you, like so many of us, can do this if you are ready to face the problem, address your food intake and exercise. It's just that simple, but still hard.
The rewards of being fit are great.
Again, the result depends on your commitment and action.
Our success or failure is always our choice.
