help me pick my new car!

i want a vehicle that seats at least 6. i was thinking a crossover with a third backseat, such as a ford freestyle or an acadia denali. no minivans.

any crossover drivers? which one do you own? what do you like about it and what do you wish was different? pictures would be great!

    I have a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe, the model before they really changed it. I love it, and the new ones are bigger, I would recommend a Santa Fe to anyone. I'm keeping mine until it dies.

    All I can say is GM took the government bailout, did NOT repay it leaving us with the bill and STILL put more people out of work than Ford and Chrysler combined. As far as I'm concerned they don't deserve any money from any of us!

    The new Ford Explorer is really nice - once of the best Fords I've seen in the past 20 years.

    You didn't ask, but I'm going to give you my advice anyway. Why don't you go with a more reliable Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord. They also have SUV's which seat more people. I've been a Camry and Accord owner for over 26+ years, and I absolutely love them. Plus, the resale value is higher than other vehicles. Look at their websites to find out what you MAY be interested in. Their models are very cool looking, too.

    I have a Flex and absolutely love it! I love the ease of driving, seating, and comfort! Take your time and see about "borrowing" a loaner from your dealer to test out for a day or two!

    2012 Limited AWD with Ecoboost Candy Apple red. Love the Ecoboost! Lots of power! Drove a stripped down model for a month while my Escape was being worked on and fell in love. :) My kids call me spoiled... though I bought it, not husband..mmmm Anyway, I love all the room! I looked like a modern Santa sleigh heading home for Christmas!

    I have bought 2 cars in the past 3 years and wasn't sure what to go with. I was buying used and paying cash so I had to work within a budget. The first ting I did was get an idea of what I needed (like you did, knowing you need a 5 seat minimum and want a crossover). Then, I called several local towing companies and asked them "Out of all the minivans (or crossovers in your case), which ones do you have to tow the most often for major break downs?" This saved me from buying a couple that I was seriously considering. I also used the kellybluebook.com reviews as a reference. You would be amazed at how many people record their experiences. I sorted the reviews best to worst first and read around 50-75 to get an idea of what good points there were. Then I sorted them worst to best to get an idea of major issues and around what mileage marker they would happen. This seemed to help out a lot! First I bought a Crystler Town and Country minivan and I LOVE IT!!! Then last year we were looking for a small gas saver for my husband's long commute and went with a Toyota Matrix 5 speed. Couln't be happier and he gets an average 38 mpg. I didn't even know what a Matrix was until I started researching. Also, Don't be afraid to negotiate. The dealer was asking $4,800 + tax/tag/title for the van and we left the lot only paying $3,300 inclding tax/tag/title. Similar deal with the Toyota! They NEED to sell cars in this economy, so, as long as you are offering a reasonable price and are willing to walk away if they can't meet it, you'll be amazed at how much they will give on price!     P.S. Forgot to mention we also talked to several local mechanics and shops. They were incredibly helpful. My motto is "If you want to know how well something is built, ask the people that have to fix them" Did this when buying several higher priced items such as washer/dryer, vacuums, tv's, etc.

    We got a Santa Fe in 08, but they don't have 3rd row anymore. The Mazda CX-9 was our favorite, but they refused to budge on the price....great car though.

    I like SUV's.
    They're great, and you can tailgate those little hybrids like a St Bernard sniffing a French Poodle.
    Further, in the event of an accident, the SUV is safe.

    As for make and model, that's up to you. I like the Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Esplanade.

    I just bought a Mazda 5. I really like it. Some drawbacks of the crossovers is that you lose storage space. I have to fold down a seat to load groceries in. Its sooooo much cheaper on gas than anything Ive driven in forever. I do a little jig at the pump every time. haha

    Thank you! She really is a sweet ride! Several times last night I had to back down my speed! Didnt' realize how fast I was going! And comfortable too!
