I use the Quaker Maple & Brown Sugar with 1/2c. Horizon Organic 1% milk and cubed Apple (any variety).0

Since you say you are up at 5 am a hint for oatmeal is to make a big pot of it at night and when cool enough put in the fridge. When you wake up all you have to do is scoop out a portion and microwave it to eat.
A lot of good toppings were mentioned. I use agave to sweeten it up a bit and always pour milk over it like cereal. My favorites to eat are:
cinnamon, agave, apples, pecans
blueberries and nuts
a Tablespoon of pumpkin puree, dried cranberries or cherries, and cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
bananas, walnuts and cinnamon
Mango and nuts
Really the toppings are endless. I ordered some whey protein and when it arrives I plan on adding that to the oatmeal as well. Quinoa can be used in place of oatmeal if you want a change.0 -
you can cut up some fruit, add some flax seed or sprinkle cinnamon on it. Cinnamon helps with cholesterol too.:happy:0

Now that I'm reading these, I wonder if a teaspoon of Nutella would be good in my Cinnamon Roll oatmeal.....
Nutella is good in everything! I usually have raisins & a teaspoon of Nutella in my oatmeal.0 -
Peanut butter, protein powder, cocoa + Splenda0

I like to put canned peaches in juice in mine with a bit of 1% milk. I use some of the juice in place of the water to make the oatmeal.0

I eat oatmeal almost every morning. Old fashioned rolled oats cooked with almond milk. I generally add a cup of a frozen triple berry blend. No sugar because the almond milk is slightly sweet. That's my favorite. Sometimes I'll add pureed pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice. Walnuts and a bit of maple syrup just for the flavor (making it with an unsweetened nondairy milk). Fresh bananas. Fresh chopped peaches or pears. Sometimes a grated apple and cinnamon or allspice.0

I love oatmeal; it's pretty much breakfast every day. I usually add:
almond milk
honey
teaspoon of coconut oil
unsweetened shredded coconut
nutella (1 tsp, not tbsp).0 -

I haven't tried putting almond milk in it but I might try that next time so that I don't need to put sugar in it. I normally just put brown sugar and cinnamon in mine!0 -

I love steel cut oats cooked with Almond Milk. Chopped apples and white raisins is my favorite right now. I also like bananas, blueberries, strawberries. I always add in some nuts, too; walnuts or pecans.
The steel cut oats keeps me full for hours! When I eat the packaged oatmeal, I'm usually hungry a lot sooner.0 -
fresh fruits, garnola, raisin.0

I cook steel oats (apparently the non-processed oats are the best for milk supply) and I put 2tbs of brown sugar. When I am feeling a little risky I will add some chopped pecans or bananas some days.0

I put 1tbs of brummel & brown, and 1/2 serving of careys light syrup.0

Pumpkin puree, spices and a little Splenda. Yum!0
-
I use 1 tsp agave nectar, some unsweetened almond milk, a couple sprays of I can't believe it's not butter, fresh fruit (blackberries are my favorite!), and sometimes chopped nuts.0

Been trying out different flavourings for my porridge. I make it from scratch and so far have tried
1. Lyles gold syrup (family fav)
2. Honey
3. Cinnamon & brown sugar (and chopped apple sometime) - probably my go to choice
4. Expresso (half a shot) - obviously need to make your porridge with milk
5. Maple syrup
6. Chai tea latte mix (lovely)
Planning to try banana, raspberry & sugar mashed and swirled in the porridge, nuttella, and peanut butter. I reckon you could try almost anything with porridge (there is a top British chef that makes snail porridge - yuck).0 -
Maple syrup for me. Less calories than honey.0

Hey, I forgot about that...I used to eat it with light 'pancake and waffle syrup' it was good. Thanks for reminding me!0 -
I put Splenda sweetener in my oatmeal and it's actually pretty good! :happy:0

pumpkin (from a can- not the pie filling), milk (almond milk for low-cal sweet & creamy), spices and a bit of stevia. So yummy! I think I need to make oatmeal tomorrow...

We really like rasins in our oatmeal plus it's added ruffage. Bananas are really good in cooked oatmeal too. Almost any fresh fruit cooked in oatmeal is real good. I don't like oatmeal, but the added fruit makes it taste so much better. A little brown sugar, cream ,
and a little margarine on top helps too.0 -
i usually put a scoop of protien powder and a banana in mine. you can add nuts, cinnamon, PB2 or peanut butter0

I usually add a scoop of chocolate protein powder to miine... It give it a lflavor and your getting a nice amount of protein as well0

Peanut butter in oatmeal?!? YUM. I like 1/4 grated or diced apple, cinnamon, and 2 tsp brown sugar. That's what I eat mostly, but you could also use banana, walnuts, or raisins (high in sugar and cals though). I use the old fashioned oats so they take a couple minutes, but the less processed the better. I'm also nursing, so it helps my milk supply.0
