I have had 2 c-sections and my doctor told me that you will never get rid of it because all of your muscles were cut. She told me that you could get it to be smaller but it will always be there. Your muscles have been torn and cut, so they do not have the elasticity and norm that the rest have.
As far as the FUPA, my problem now that I am over 40 is the pouch above the belly button!0 -
I have one from 2 c-sections as well. When i lost the weight after the babies, it went down a little, and as soon as i gained weight it's back worse than ever before! It's so NOT cute right?! I agree with the post above about surgery removing it and trust me, if i ever got any type of plastic surgery- that would be it!!! (altho, i seriousely doubt i ever will...lol)0

MYTH: Performing countless abdominal crunches thinking it will get rid of the “pooch” area on the lower tummy/abdominal area.
I get a question related to this issue approximately 20 times per week. It is not possible to spot reduce any area of the body. The real solution is to reduce overall body fat through a slight caloric deficit, add resistance exercise (weight training) to stimulate the metabolism, and cardiovascular exercise to burn additional calories. That’s the way to fat loss.
Performing crunches will never reduce the abdominal area because it only serves to strengthen muscle, not flatten a specific area. Just as 200 bicep curls will not make the arm smaller, nor will 200 abdominal crunches make the waist smaller. You cannot spot reduce any part of the body. It’s just not physiologically possible0 -

I just started the Ripped in 30 the other day. its Awesome!! and boy am i sore today!

That helps explain mine then. At one point I was very thin and it was smaller but definitely there so I couldn't wear a bikini. Al the muscles have been cut there due to a surgery. Never thought of that affecting the area before..No wonder the surgeon said he wouldn't do liposuction, he'd just remove it. As I said before it didn't seem like a big enough problem to justify the dangers involved. I like one piece bathing suits just fine.0 -
I love the Shred, I've been doing this as well but not everyday. It's too hard on my knees. I just ordered her new Ripped in 30 days. Looking forward to starting that next week.

I started week two of Ripped in 30 yesterday, and it is insane! The girls behind her even have trouble with some moves, which actually makes me feel better, and I really feel like i'm getting a kicka$$ workout! I love the meal plan also.0 -
I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd add my two cents. I do leg lifts. They tone and strengthen the lower abdominals (FUPA, front butt, etc) & are fairly easy. Just lie on the ground, hands at your sides. With your legs touching, lift them only 3-4 inches off the ground. Hold that pose for as long as you can - start with 15 seconds, work up to 30. Do about 10 reps, or more if you don't feel challenged enough. After each rep, tuck your knees into your chest to stretch your back. Then you can really test yourself with alternating leg lifts. Lift both legs and try lifting one slightly higher than the other, and switch. Also, lift your legs and move them up and down without touching the floor or bending your knees for 15-30 seconds. You'll see that they're not as easy as they sound, but are really helpful. Good luck0

This is quite interesting, this is the first "blog" I have read on here and it is about the same kind of problem I will have, I am sure, since I have had 3 c-sections. Lower abs problems are going to be a problem foe me as well because I have always had a lower ab problem. Can't wait to see what the "cure" is.0

I would suggest getting jillian's 6 week 6 pack video... She says straight up that you can't loose belly fat without some cardio intervals integrated into your workout. You can do crunches which work out your abs but you're still gonna have that layer of fat over them. It's a tough workout but only for 30 minutes. You can get it for free (if you know how look for it).
Also, for a slight lower back problem, if you do pilates for abs, you can fold a pillow and put it under your butt and do the exercises. Or you can buy one of those cylinder pilates things and put it under your butt while you do them.
Also again, I can't believe that many people didn't know what a FUPA is.0 -
My personal trainer says that belly fat is worked off in the kitchen and not the gym. There are foods to help fight belly fat, such as lean turkey, avocado, and eggs. There is probably an article somewhere that tells you exactly what foods to eat for that.
I do know that cutting carbs is a big deal when trying to lose belly fat, even good ones. No alcohol, period.
Pilates are EXCELLENT for the abdominals and I suggest them to everyone for many reasons. They also help with the back as well as flexibility.0 -
Reverse chrunches i would put a small blanket under your lower back and i got my hubby to cut a broom handle the length that fits behind my knees and use that to pull my legs into my belly.Iwould not do very many the first time then work your way up to 20x 2sets it worked for me i hve lost 5 inches off my belly good luck!0

the fupa is the bane of my existence. it's godawful and when i look down and see it, i want to cut it out with a jigsaw.
the only solution is to lose weight and hope your body doesn't like to hold fat there0 -
I realize that I wasn't very helpful.
blogilates on youtube has videos that are fantastic. short and sweet pilates videos and other fun workouts like cardio, to good songs.
for those who like the hunger games, there's a hunger games workout.0 -

I've got 2 kids 22 months apart, the youngest is 19 months now. They were both overdue (10 days and 12 days, my 1st 7lbs 13 and my 2nd 8lbs 10) but I had natural births.
I've still got that lower belly flabby bit but it's got a lot smaller. I've got a personal trainer so he's helping. I do a lot of abs work, crunches, planks etc. I'm hoping it'll eventually get really small or disappear.0 -

I've lost enough weight to be considered at a healthy BMI, however, my--and I'm sorry if the term offends anybody--FUPA still remains. In fact, I have the beginnings of UPPER abs due to kickboxing with cardio twice a week! I have not had any kids, so this shouldn't be an issue to lose. What am I doing wrong? Is there a specific exercise you can do to trim it?
Also, I feel like mentioning my very SLIGHT lower back problem is important.

Well, running is the fastest weight loss method. but for those of us who cant run very long, skipping with high knees or bicycle crunches work pretty well.
I'm doing Jillian MIchael's 30-day shred. She uses these exercises and wow...seeing results after 7 days. its wicked.
Negative ghost rider - strength training / HIIT are better for you then a long cardio run. Lift weights and get stronger if you want to be sexier.0 -
Same issue here, was desparing earlier, but I keep telling myself "the lower my bodyfat gets the less the gut will be there".
Good to see so many suggestions and people in the same place though0
