  • So you got food poisoning and now you can't keep anything down? I am not sure I understand the question. Food poisoning (in most cases) has to work it's way out. When it is over, rehydrate and ask your Dr. about h-pylori. This is sometimes present after food poisoning.

Oh no, hope you're better soon.
The most important thing is to keep hydrated - try water or some of those electrolyte packs from the chemist.
If you are ready to try eating - grated apple, crackers or plain rice might be worth a try. Vegemite on toast is usually my standby once I'm getting better.
  • Hi! Last time I called poison control as a precaution, they recommended water, popcicles, and broth. If you cant keep anything down they said gatorade is best to keep hydrated. Hope you feel better soon, shouldnt last more than 24 to 48 hours

If eating makes you vomit, don't eat.

Try to sip on Gatorade so you can maintain your electrolyte balance. Don't try to eat if you can't.. your body is trying to get rid of the problem. Main thing is to stay hydrated. Feel better soon!

I got it just a month ago. Was horrible. I would drink water and then I wouldn't heave (didn't stay down longer than 5 min). Then the 3rd day I could suck on a popsicle. Then seltzer water worked too. Gatorade was too much. Suck on ice chips. Feel better. If it lasts longer than 24 you should go to the Dr. and get rehydrated.

I work in an ER and we tell people start with clear liquids. Anything you can see through. Apple juice, broth (not chicken noodle. You can't see through the chicken or the noodle.), water that kind of stuff.
Then advance slowly after 12 hours with the BRAT diet. Bread Rice Apple sauce and Toast. If you start with soft foods and it comes back up then back to clear liquids till you can handle more.
    Hope this helps.

Burnt toast has activated charcoal. This sometimes helps with settling the stomach.

If it has been 53 hours start eating. Start with liquids and then add the toast or other light things.
