On the packaging, under the ingredients, by law, manufacturers are supposed to list what allergens are in the product, right? So if it does not specifically say "contains wheat" or "may contain traces of wheat" or "produced in same factory" etc, would it be safe to assume it's gluten free even if it doesn't say the words 'gluten free'?

I saw some Oatmeal today at the store that had ingredients listed as "whole grain rolled oats, sugar, flaxseed, dehydrated wild blueberries, salt, natural and artificial flavor, citric acid" (I took a picture so I'd remember what I needed to look up LOL) Do you think I could count it as gluten free?

Yes, it has sugar, please don't beat me up on that. Right now I'm just trying to find things that I can eat for breakfast that won't make me sick to my stomach. I think I've developed a wheat gluten allergy and feel much better when I eat gluten free. I'm planning on going to the doctor to get tested to know for sure and to make sure it isn't developing into Celiac (I already have one autoimmune disease) but that takes time.

What are your thoughts?

You need to buy oats that say gluten free on them like bobs red mill. The reason is because although the oats have no gluten in them, most brands are contaminated while growing. Wind carries the gluten from wheat plants and contaminates the oats. So the gluten free oats are grown in thir own separate area. I'm not sure how much gluten really is in them, someone with celiacs would not eat Quaker oats
