557 Cal left. Now I know you don't have to eat your way to your MAX... but i Know the apps going to tell me off for not eating enough today... I've already snacked on Skips (light fluffy crisps). What is there safe to eat before bed that will satisfy the system shock defenses AND not turn into fat overnight because your metabolism switches off? :(

If I'm not hungry...I don't eat. Maybe you could have some nuts or a piece of fruit or some veg dipped in something nommy...or some sliced ham wrapped around some cheese??
  • Having the same issue... If I eat the cal amount I'm told to eat, I can't get all the water in; to full. I also just can't think of all the foods I can eat. I'm new to all this cal counting business. I'm afraid like you, that I'll end up blowing up. However the same holds true if you don't eat enough.

Your body keeps burning fat all day long. Your metabolism doesn't shut off just because you go to sleep. As long as it's healthy you can eat whatever you want. Don't eat junk food just to meet your calories goal. Do try to meet your calorie goal every day, even estimate your exercise calories ahead of time so you can work them in earlier in the day.

If your metabolism switches off at night and you still wake up in the morning, I want to know your trick. It must be a very restful night's sleep what with no heart beat, brain function, etc.

Lean protien is the best it won't be stored as fat overnight or cause you to be restless and it will help repair your muscles while you sleep I usually drink my protien shake two to three hours before bed. I would suggest that you eat every two hours and eat most of your calories before dinner.

How come the app doesn't tell me off for not eating enough? Lol! Maybe it's trying to tell me something! I usually eat pretty close to my calorie goal. I keep Hershey's Kisses around for when I have a lot of calories left. Makes me feel naughty without actually being naughty. That has been one of the hardest challenges in changing my lifestyle.....not overdoing it! I'm doing well. My problem is I find I "save" my calories "just in case" which kills me during the day sometimes. Are you doing that as well? Maybe we should add more calories onto breakfast??

I plan my meals and exercise first thing in the morning. I work 8-5 so I log my breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner based on what I brought to work with me and what I plan to make for dinner. It helps me to see if I will need to eat more or less or what types of things I might be lacking right away so that I can make adjustments earlier in the day.
If plans change (as the often do) I just go back and adjust my log to reflect what I really consumed.

If you continue to eat at around 600 - 800 calories you are gong to have some serious problems. Your body needs fuel to do the every day things and if it doesn't get it, it will kick into starvation mode and begin to use muscle as fuel which is a bad thing. Get your calories in.

Your metabolism also doesn't shut off at night so eat. Some of my favs to get my calories up are sweet potatoes, kidney beans, black beans mixed with corn, tuna over baby spinach leaves and tomatoes with lemon pepper seasoning.

Find some foods that work great for you and get to eating :-)

    Good luck!

Maybe I exaggerated about the metabolism switching off, if you took me literally... Sorry about that.

My Doctor told me I need to avoid certain food groups in the evenings and defiantly NO RED MEAT in the evenings, because my body's metabolism slows down in the evenings and the calories (or whatever) from theses types of foods are more likely to be stored as fat rather than burnt of as energy. (her words not mine)

Just wanted to know what was safe to eat at night.

I found this, it might help. Note the "Avoid Nuts" also ;)
