Hey everyone, I am currently on day 11 of Insanity and I am loving it, the main issue I am having is my upper body strength, I am unable to do any weight training as I can not afford a gym.
Does anyone have any tips or exercises that I could add to my daily workout that will help increse my upper body? I weight 280ish and I have no limitations bosy wise for any possible workouts.
Try these;
Body Weight Exercises:

I have no idea what chair dips or arm circles are, I started off by just using gym machines, I never really done push ups or anything like that.
Effort, my friend...put forth some effort!0 -
Search "Plyometric exercises" on Youtube. It will give you some ideas.0
-
bodyrock.tv has great body weight exercises and exercises you can do with your duffle bag full of cocaine.0

Bing search "strength training without weights for men" there are so many sites that will tell you the workouts and some have videos that will show you examples. If that doesnt help put the same title into youtube and watch.0

Two liter soda bottles filled with water will weigh about 4.5#.
Or you can check the classifieds in your paper or Craigslist for used weights. Lots of people might be giving up their New Years Resolutions and selling off their fitness equipment.0 -
1. Get a duffel bag, back pack, book bag anything fill it with sand, rice, rocks, books, gold bars, cocaine, salt, poop, pots pans.
2. Do:
Bent-Rows
Over head press
Bench Press
Push up to a 1 arm row
Tricep extensions
Curls
Lateral Raise
Crucifixion
Turkish Get Up
You now have no excuses.0 -
My boyfriend and I are doing P90X...that seems to be affordable if you have a set of weights... or check out randomabs.com... they always have a great daily workout that doesnt involve any machines or weights too.0

you could also check out bodybuilding.com. they have tons of videos and stuff.
love bodyrock too! not just for ladies!0 -
Try some yoga! You have to support yourself with your upper body a lot so it's good for strengthening without getting body builder muscles, plus you can find plenty of options on the web or TV if you're not part of a gym or yoga place! Don't knock it til you've tried it... yoga is NOT for wimps!!!!!0

I have a cheap suggestion. Start with 2 sets and 15 reps:
Triceps dips on a bench/side of your bed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0326dy_-CzM
Lat raises holding a 2L bottle of water in each hand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASNNE44n_Zk
Bicep curls with a 2L bottle in each hand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO_CNYidOw0
Standard pushups
Ab crunches
Eventually you can invest in the cheapest adjustable dumbbell set you find (less than a month's worth of gym membership and they last forever).0 -
1. Get a duffel bag, back pack, book bag anything fill it with sand, rice, rocks, books, gold bars, cocaine, salt, poop, pots
That's just silly... Rocks!0
