I have had knee problems all my life along with 3 knee surgeries. My dr told me running is the worse thing to do for bad knees. But if I insisted on doing it to ice at least 15 min everytime I do it. It helps a bit. I also take cosamin ds faithfully every day and this does make a difference!0

I've found the stretches on here helpful. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_1/126.shtml
And maybe try a support bandage?0 -
You may need to see a a doctor or podiatrist. As the way your foot hits the ground has a direct impact on all your joints- especially knee's and hips. There are number of reasons you may have foot pain e.g. You may have under/over pronation of the arches in your feet and require insoles.
In the meantime if you think your arches might be the issue I'd make sure your trainers aren't overworn and have balance control to try and correct your running form.
I've found I have overpronation in one foot so aswell as insoles and correct trainers I've changed (with difficulty) the way that that I run by concentrating on how I want my body to move as the foot connects with the ground. It's really helped but takes alot of concentation.
Again, post run, ice, rest, compress, eat protein and elevate if there is pain. Just a few things I've picked up overtime.0 -
