I'm not a huge fan of salads. I think it's mostly the lettuce (unless its slathered with ranch). Call me crazy but I think no matter where its from I think lettuce tastes like chemicals. I've been doing good at eating salads for lunch but the lettuce part is torture for me. Any tips on what else I can eat in its place?

I would think you could eat any other non starchy veggies. I love cold string beans with a little olive oil and vinegar in place of a salad sometimes.

I dont eat lettuce in my salads, as it has pretty much zero nutritional value, even f it is low cal.
I swap mine for spinach or raw cabbage. yummy!
or for something different go for a warm spinach salad with mangos or pineapple with crumbled feta and stirfried meat.
or try something like a couc ous salad, with prawns and VERY finely chopped up cos lettuce, with pineapple. yummy!

I don't like salad that much either. I prefer cut up veggies plain or with a little dressing on the side to dip them in. My favourites are tomatoes, celery, cucumber, carrots, snap peas, broccoli and green beans.

I don't like salad/lettuce either. I've been using spinach...which isn't much better but works for me.

I use brocolli slaw, or coleslaw. I like to add frozen peas or unsweetened cranberries, and a lite vinaigrette dressing. Sometimes I top it with chicken.
  • I use spinish YYUUMM!! also, rather than dressing, I found putting fruit in my salad gives me the flavor im looking for without all the uneeded fat, I use grapes, and naval orange slices with a wee bit of lemon juice can u say YUM!

What kind of lettuce are you using? It makes a huge difference. My favorites are red leaf and boston. I absolutely will not eat iceberg. Ew. And if I have my choice, I use half lettuce and half spring greens or baby spinach.

I don't like lettuce either. I just chop up tomatoes, cucumbers and red bell peppers and that's my salad!

I am not a big lettuce person. But, I put either spinach or a little lettuce and pile up cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers on it instead.

I love boston/lambs lettuce and gems lettuce and spinach. I love salad, I make low fat ranch dressing (skim milk and light mayo) and put in loads of yummy stuff, mushrooms, crisp corn, mushrooms, grape tomatoes, bell peppers, everything! I think my lettuce ratio is smaller compared to everything else. I love mandarin oranges in my salad as well.

I usually use half a cuke, celery , carrots and just a cup of baby spinach. I need the iron in the salads. I am not a fan of big leafy lettuce, especially when I am eating at work around other people. I also eat bean salad (kidney, garbanzo and yellow wax beans) with some ff Italian dressing. Better than a bowl of lettuce.

The great thing about salad is you can make it suited to your own taste. I thought I hated salad and then I found out it the dressing I hate. I also don't lke lettuce. So I use spinach or spring greens and veggies with just a little olive oil and garlic salt and pepper... oh, and cheese, of course!

I hated salads about a year ago, but they have grew on me. I eat a salad almost every day, some days I crave them. I like romaine lettuce and I throw some spinach in there.

Try baby spinach. Tasty. Just finished a small salad for lunch threw some leftover talipia in it. Delicious.

Why do you feel the need to eat salads, again? Don't like them, don't eat them. Pretty simple. :)
