Which is better...?

I know that exercise is key in overall health/fitness.

Does it affect my body differently if I break up my workout from 1 long workout period to 2 shorter workouts? If it does make a difference, which one is better?

I am wanting to do Turbo Fire and Chalean in one workout with some Running or Zumba. Then either RevAbs or some weightlifting in another. Or should I just do the cardio and strength training together?

Replies

  • Alot of exercise experts and doctors say that getting the exercise in is what is important..regardless of whether it is broken up or all at once. I am sure that it is true, but I know that I feel more "worked out" when it is all at once. I think that if it works better for you split it up and get it done :) I hope my 2 cents helped!

if your two short workouts are at least 20 min long, that should be fine. I probably wouldn't break up your workouts into shorter periods than that.

I don't think there'd be a particular advantage to either system, though I guess perhaps there's the advantage of being able to work to a higher intensity for a shorter boost of activity. But you'd have to weigh that against the endurance building advantages of the longer workout?

Neither workout is shorter than 20 minutes. Most of the time, by the time I get done going through all the rounds, it takes about between 1 and 1.5 hours per workout session, meaning its averaging 2-3 hrs total.

I didn't know if it was better to split it up, if it helped with the calorie burn afterward, or whether just to keep it all at once.

    Thanks for your help.

I do feel more energized if I keep the whole workout together, but I wasn't sure since I was doing both cardio and strength training, whether they benefited each other to keep it together, or split.

In that case it won't make any difference at all if you split it up and in the long run it may help you stay on the right path longer. If you felt obligated to do such a long workout all the the time you may burn out quicker.

Is Rev Abs any good? I got it for free but am debating on selling it on ebay rather than keeping it, it's worth >$90 I believe.
