Protein Bars?

Does anyone know any good protein bars that aren't loaded with sugar and saturated fat!?
I mainly eat fruits and veggies, I try to stick to high fiber, high protein -- I like bars for a quick snack in the afternoon, but they all seem to be terribly unhealthy!

My choices are : South Beach bars (they just came out with new ones), Kashi Trail Mix bars, and Luna bars. These are all South Beach friendly--whole grains and low in added sugar. The Luna bars have a lot of sugar from the fruit though.0

Look at Quest protein bars. 170cal, 20pro, 5fat, 24cho(18fib). Not bad for a little bar.0
-
My favorite are Luna Bars. The chocolate Peppermint stick is the absolute best!0
-
I enjoy eating the Atkins advantage bars They have meal replacement and snack bars, my favorite is the peanut butter granola. Yummy!0

BSc are good - but not sure how easy they are to source outside of Australia. Also, Aussie Bodies (the same caveat applies).0

If you're going to have a Luna bar, have a Luna Protein bar. Much more filling and less insulin spike compared to the original Luna bars.
The Chocolate Mint and Chocolate Cherry are the best IMO.
But my FAVORITE nutrition bar are these: http://www.amazon.com/Raw-Revolution-Raspberry-Chocolate-2-2-Ounce/dp/B000EDK7WO/ref=pd_bxgy_gro_img_c
Raw Revolution Raspberry Chocolate bars - BIG and satisfying, not low in calories but high in good quality calories for your health! Raw and clean food, you know what's in it and tastes like it's rich and filling.
Or you can always make your own: http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2011/10/19/homemade-luna-bars/0 -
What do you think about these:

One of the posters already mentioned them.0 -
I second the Quest bars. They're a fiber supplement and a protein bar all in one, with almost no sugars. The ingredient lists will amaze you - no bizarre chemical names.
The Original line has artificial sweetners but no sugar alcohols. The All Natural Line has no artificial sweetners but some sugar alcohols in their place; not nearly as many as most protein bars though.
There are about 10 flavors and I like all but one of them. Won't tell you which one so as not to bias you. Quest.com.0 -
the quest ones are full of artificial ingredients and sugar alchohols - not very healthy0

What about the Kellogg Protein bars? What do you all think of those?0

I start almost every workday with one of these for breakfast since I usually only have time to eat while driving to work. Sometimes I have one for lunch too or a before/after-workout boost. The local BJ's Wholesale Club sells big boxes of them with half double chocolate flavor and half peanut butter flavor. I like them both but note there is a 10 calorie difference in the two flavors and somewhat surprisingly it's the chocolate ones that have fewer calories.
They're not exactly crunchy-hippie-natural but they aren't too bad and they are higher in protein than may other options out there.
Aaannnnnddd I just noticed I can get them through Amazon's subscribe and save program so I guess I'll be comparing prices soon.0 -
My favorite meal replacement bar is the "larabar" and my favorite flavor is the cherry pie. They are made will all natural ingredients, and no preservatives. In fact, most bars don't have more than 4 or 5 ingredients. My costco offers a variety pack that I buy consistently, check them out, they are great....

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!! I think I'm just gonna stick to fruits & veggies and Muscle Milk Light shakes.
Protein bars just have WAY too much saturated fat for my liking -- and the one that are low in saturated fat and sugar are also pretty low in protein!0 -

If you ever decide you like the portability of a bar, try to make your own some time with protein powder, dates, dried cranberries/cherries/blueberries, oats/almonds/cashews (use a food processor)!0 -

That's a great idea!! I might give it a try! I also LOVE the Raw Revolution bars that you mentioned before -- Dark Chocolate Coconut is my favorite. I think they're good for a once-in-a-while on the run snack, but not something that I'd eat everyday.0 -

Or you can MAKE your own bars. Here's the recipe for Jamie Eason's Chocolate Protein Bars!

I had a simlar topic to this one so I found this to be helpful as well. I am looking into adding these to my intake, I work 12 hours a day and get a half hour lunch, but can usually snack on something quick during the day... So I have a few to choose from now. I am looking into Cliff Bars as well, heard good things about them0

I make my own. I do a variation of Ellie Krieger Energy Bars found on foodnetwork.com0

these are my favourite, they're canadian though.
all natural, gluten-free, vegan, 10 ingredients.
the fibre is higher than the sugars, 10 g of carbs in total - which you NEVER find in protein bars. At 150 calories, and 16 g of protein, there really is nothing like it on the market.0 -

these are great but also very artificial... but i agree VERY yummy, and very filling! i eat them pretty regular - but i do feel guilty about it when i do0 -
What's "artificial" to you then? I've seen you mention it a couple times, but I'm having difficulty figuring it out. What are the artificial ingredients in these bars? Are they harmful?0
-
Rather eat 8oz of chicken for 50g of protein! Protein bars are a waste of $$$.0

It depends on what you are looking for. Some of the protein bars have different ingredients in them depending on whether you are going to use them before or after a workout. For example, the pre-workout bar would have more protein to carbs while the post workout bar would have more carbs to protein. You best bet is to go for brands like Musashi or Aussie Bodies, they tend to have less sugar in them. It would pay to read the ingredient list to see where the sugar is placed. If it is in the first half of the ingredient list, I would give these ones a miss but they would be good for post workout protein and carb intake.
For you who wants them only for a snack, then you need to find one that has the sugar or carb content in the second half of the ingredient list. Also look out for the presence of trans fats, fructose, dextrose, glucose. If the bar has all or some of these then I would give them a miss; you would be having too much sugar and the wrong fats, you would be putting on weight instead of eating to work for you.
You know, the best thing would be to make your own. Then you can control the ingredients. Try this one:
Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
* 6-8 scoops chocolate protein powder
* 1 cup oatmeal
* 1/3 cup natural peanut butter (with no oil, sugar or salt added)
* 3 tbsp honey or Stevia as an alternative, try 2 teaspoons
* 1/2 cup 1% milk, or skim milk
* 3 tbsp crushed peanuts or other nuts of your choice
Directions:
1. Mix together the protein powder, oatmeal, peanut butter,
honey and milk.
2. Form into 5 bars and then roll in the crushed peanuts to
finish.
3. Place in the fridge for about 30 mins
