lower belly fat

ive lost 42 lbs since dec 13th when i got the gastric sleeve. basically my legs have lost alot weight so the point where my pants r baggy but around my stomach they r the same. just wondering what exercises you have to lose lower belly fat so my stomach catches up to my legs since all my jeans now look like mens jeans cuz of how baggy they are. i even bought a new pair 4 days ago and they are once again baggy but around my stomach r still the same tightness.

    You need to do some ab exercises and make sure that your are getting enough protein for them to develop. Im not sure how the gastric sleeve works, but my guess would be that there is not much muscle there. Just keep a good diet with very high protein intake and work out your abs a bit and you will be fine!

    First of all, congrats on your loss so far!

    What does your exercise regime look like? Also, without being able to see your diary, it's hard, for me anyway, to make completely informed suggestions or give advice. But losing belly fat is is achievable through cardio, strength training, and clean eating.

    One thing I can suggest is really cutting back on sugar and refined carbs (ie white flour)... when I stick with that, the belly starts shrinking fast. Fall off that wagon, the belly is the first place it goes to. (I'm told it's a thirties thing. *shrug* I don't know.)

    I am not an expert...but I love to give advice. Doing sit ups is very important but even more is controlling the stomach muscles by holding your stomach in...practicing holding it in all day a little at a time is a big help. The fat will come off with continued diet and exercise

    this..reduction in overall body fat will give you abs..for a woman its around 15% body fat. no amount of crunches will either build muscle nor flatten the tummy.

    reducing carbs, reducing stress and running can help flatten the tummy, but remember you cant spot reduce.

    If you are trying to gain muscle mass, you want to have 1 gram of protein for each pound you weigh that is not associated with body fat. Using some simple numbers:

    Your weight: 100 lbs
    Your body fat: 10%
    Weight in fat: 10 lbs
    Reminder not associated with fat: 90 lbs
    You would want to get 90 grams of protein per day.

    Obviously, you need to know your body fat percent.

    Jillian Michaels DVDs are supposed to be really good. I just started the 30DS yesterday and it has a bunch of ways to drop weight and strengthen you body.

    If your genetics made you gain in the belly first, you'll lose the belly last. No fun, but there it is. On the up side, you've done a fantastic job losing to this point. Keep w/ the clean diet and exercise daily, cardio interval plus strength training in the ratio your body can handle -- as long as you keep going, you WILL achieve your goals.

    For me, I find that biking gets rid of the lower ab flab. So try a spin class! Or get a stationary bike for those gross days outside, and go outside and enjoy the nature.

    And of course, everyone's input would def help as well. :)

    I was reading all the responses thinking to myself "omg these ppl are giving advice without knowing what their talking about!!"

    Then this guy saves this thread!! Lol exactly what he said there is NO such thing as spot fat removal unless u got a knife u can use....

    Excersising ur core can make u look fatter around the waiste as it will make the muscle harder thos push the fat out more... Alot of bodybuilders i know and spoken too dont work their core at all actuly as they want to keep their waist small (to make their upper body look bigger) most hit round size 28 pants when their shredded...

    Not saying this will work for all but i would avoid core workouts until u get low bf% n a flat stomach!

    1g is minimum... If u want to build muscle or ur cutting and trying to keep muscle u built u need 1.25-2.0 dependin on activity level

    I would avoid doing a gazillion crunches everyday and isolating types of ab workouts, but I wouldn't totally avoid core workouts. Things like squats and deadlifts, planks and push ups, if done with proper form can be beneficial. If I waited until I had lower bodyfat to start doing core exercises, I wouldn't of had the muscle built underneath to show. Just my personal experience.

    I totally have to agree with another posters recommendations to kick the sugars and the carbs. The program I'm on says that is the best way to hit fat. Including belly fat. The issue here is that with your gastric sleeve, it might be the case that you can't process your carbs well already. Hit the gym and do your basic compounds, squats, deadlifts and bench press. You'll look so much better when you finally take that last bit of fat off your body.

    This will do very little to a woman and most men... I'm afraid you're just gonna have to tough it out, if it's fat you'll have to just do plenty of good calorie burning cardio and wait until you're body decides it wants to burn off the fat there. (it will eventually). If it's purely loose skin, again, ab exercises will do very little, it may require surgical intervention which you may or may not be advised to have by a doctor/specialist/surgeon. If it's just a tiny bit of fat, then ab work MAY help poke through a little definition, but could take some time.
