I'm wondering if anyone has tried the weight loss drug Alli. I am trying to lose about 15 lbs and am considering using. I'd love to hear some reviews and comments about the abdominal side effects.
thank you!

I have taken it in the past and yea it helped me lose some weight but it didn't help my relationship with food. I started abusing it as in 'aw no probs I can have that takeaway' or 'I can have that extra cake' as I knew I would effectively 'pass' it the other end!! The side effects are horrible if you eat too much fat, really oily stools and stomach cramps, hence them trying to teach you to eat less fat. But I didn't like them so just decided to bin them and then do more exercise and eat better. That has worked for me more in the long run. Sorry its a negative comment but only putting my experience down xxx0

If you can handle the constant fear of sh!tting yourself after you eat something, totally worth it! :flowerforyou:0

LOL! That Bad!! Hmm.....I'm thinking NO!!0 -
Buy black pants and underwear too. Stains show up less that way!0

15 lbs is not a lot of weight... do it naturally. Less chance of gaining it back in the long run and you might actually learn some good habits in the process.0
-
Don't do it... Seriously, just don't. You only have 15 to lose? You'll do fine the good ole fashioned way of watching what you eat and getting in some exercise!0

Did it once--it very expensive and you have uncontrolable loose stools--not something you should try if you are working in the public. I made it and no one knew, I just said I was sick and went home--but it's not worth it!0

F* it, just do meth, or if it's too low brow for you do coke. All the cool kids are doing it.0

I've not tried it, but I asked my doctor about it. She said that it's a safe drug but to stay home when first taking it because it definitely has explosive side effects, as mentioned above.0

I tried it once because I've always wanted to know how it felt to *kitten* myself.0

Alli and Depends are usually handily stocked right beside one another.0

Yea I was warned about the possible anal leakage I kinda chuckled but I guess it's true!0

You'll have the same results if you eat a lot of mexican food. And by results, I mean the oily, explosive diarrhea part.0

I used those for one day - and I had an upset stomach for one month!!!0

I haven't tried it but knew someone who did, and it was a case of NEVER again. Side effects just don't seem worth it!0

^Yeah, this is the side effect I've heard the most about. It's not for the weak of bowels.0 -
Step one: Buy a taco from Taco Bell.
Step two: Dump contents of tortilla in the paper wrapping.
THIS is what your undies will look like. Have fun.0 -
Same experience as the other posters. Loose stools and worry about what may happen in the end. I'd say just watch what you're eating and move!0

It really is that scary....I tried it. It's a horrible feeling....0

Depends really are the way to go.0 -
Alli helped me with my food habits and i lost weight while on it. You start your low fat diet a week before starting the pills to lessen the side effects(runny oily stools) I began taking the pill over the weekend when i was away from the public because of the side effects i heard. I really watched what i ate and i didn't have the explosive effects. If you eat right while on it , it will lessen those awful side effects. After about a month on it i developted sever stomach pains! So i stopped taking it. I also dont have a gallbladder and the medicine said if you've had gallbladder disease not to take it. Hope this helps0

I thought about for about 3 minutes when it first came out, and on the package it said to be sure to wear brown pants and always have an extra pair with you. Sounds nasty. It is not worth it. Excercise and good nutrietion will get you there.0

I was prescribed Xenical, which is similar but (I think) stronger. It worked really well for me for a few months but some of the success I had with it was probably due to the fact that I was terrified of eating anything with a high fat content. In the end I gave up, I wasn't really in the right frame of mind to change my lifestyle at the time and it doesn't work on its own as a quick fix.0

I used it in the past but after getting tired of having to clean the toilet every time I used it because of the oil and worrying if I was going to have an accident or not I stopped using it. It works as a conditioner to stop eating really fatty foods, because the less fat you eat the less of the negative effects, but in all I never saw much of a difference between taking it while watching my food intake and just watching what I ate without the Alli. For ~$60 a bottle I'd rather just keep my money and purchase some other type of aid (exercise equipment, calorie counting monitors etc.)0

I took it and never had an issue. I ate better because I didn't want to worry about possible side effects. I had to stop taking it, though, because it is expensive.0

Thanks for the tremendous laughs today. I'm laughing because I too have tried it and even eating what I thought was a healthier meal at a restaurant I had those same problems. Less than an hour later what I thought was just going to be passing some gas turned into a much messier mess. Not worth it for only 15 pounds!0

Yikes! I am glad I never tried this lol0

Just don't go more than 100 feet from a toilet, or get used to wearing diapers.
Two words: anal leakage.0
