My sister tried and acai berry pill. The one with the picture of a lady with a tape measurer around her stomach. It cleaned out her insides pretty good but I am not sure if it did anything else.0

Yes, the acai berry industry has an incredible marketing department. I believe that marketing team is now working for the coconut industry0

LOL, there is a thread going about this so I am going to share my experience, then someone is going to come in and berate me with their opinion and a link to a couple of links to their google search, so beware.
I use the Agro Labs Acia Berry juice in the mornings and it does help increase my bowl movements (I have serious issues there) and I take the cleansing pills every 6 to 9 mos, LOVE it!
I do notice decreased energy when I do not take it.
Beware, there is a great number of people jumping on the Acia train. Just because something says it has it in it, does not mean that it has the right stuff. You will want a product with the actual pulp and the more % of it the better. The real deal is going to be a little more expensive than something that says it is 100% Acia flavor, lol,
Like I have stated before, I like the product and will continue to use it because I have seen real results in my bowl movements and energy levels. Now as far as it being something that is a miracle food for fat burning, I have not had the luxury of that expereince.0 -
It's the fruit of a palm tree ... there are plenty of other fruits out there that are very good for you or even better for you than acai. Many of them are richer in antioxidants than acai berries ... see the section titled "Juice Blend Studies" on this Wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Açaí_palm
As the above article states, acai became a "miracle berry" thanks in large part to the efforts of MLM companies. Hey, if you want to throw away your money on an overpriced fad fruit, go for it. If on the other hand you want to save your money and are more interested in science than wishful thinking, drink Concord grape, blueberry, and black cherry juices ... all of which have more antioxidants than acai.0 -

My understanding is that the Acai "berry" is indeed very high in antioxidants and fiber. However the supplements don't have the fiber so you'll only get the antioxidants that survive the manufacturing process (depends on amount of heat in packaging). I don't think the supplements work the same way the berry itself would. I wouldn't bank on weight loss... boosting your immune system maybe... but not weight loss.0 -

Its antioxidant content is pretty middle-of-the-road ... see above. Yes, it's rich in fiber ... so are dried fruits like figs and apricots, and they're a lot cheaper.0 -
