I love cocktails, I love wine, I love beer, I just love chilling out after work with a couple of drinks basically. But they are basically just empty calories and bump up my calorie intake ALOT, plus I end up getting hungry after drinking and usually go for a greasy option lol. So I am defintely trying to give up the drink for a while :( I feel your pain!

I don't know why but when I have cocktails at night (I usually drink 2) the following day I always lose 1/2 kg :| so strange! but I drink them like once a week or less..

I love my wine so much, cocktails etc. Try and have champagne- not to everyone's taste I know- instead. Why do you think all the supermodels drink it? There are much less calories in champagne than cocktails. Try a sweet champagne, see if you like it. I love it. Going to have some tonight :)

i have a glass of wine almost nightly- sometimes more, sometimes none at all. But i always try to leave calories for it.

I havent noticed a negative effect with my weight loss, thoguh im sure if i cut it out i'd likely be doing even better

Yep, What we found is that it is really the routine, not the alcohol. Make a nice "drink" of ice cubes in a rocks glass with some good sparkling water or a diet soda or something similar, and do exactly what you would do with your "real" drink...sit on the patio and talk about your day, or kick your feet up or whatever, and that really helps with the transition from alcohol to non alcohol. and SIP your drink.
Not to say you can't have a drink, but if you are watching the calories this really helps.

I am going to Vegas for the first time in a few weeks and I'm FREAKING out because I've been dropping the pounds off (just started hitting the gym 5 days a week again and getting back into MFP) I've only been at it for 2 weeks but I plan on continuing this and just HOPE I dont fall off this path. I plan on not drinking until Vegas but I'm freaking out about what I'm going to do then...I'll only be there for 4 days but still!!! =)

I absolutley feel your pain. Nothing makes me happier than a nice glass of wine after a hard day...Or perhaps a gin basil smash or a pornstar martini or just a plain old G+T. But I have to quit drinking during the week. I drink waaaay to much, well over the recommended limit. And it makes me eat! Also not good. I can lose 4 pounds between Monday and Friday and then put it all back on over the weekend!

Everytime I reach for the bottle I have to remind myself…fat *kitten*..saggy belly…deeper wrinkles…broken blood vessels…cellulite! Im vain enough that that makes me stop! 

I love my cocktails on the weekends! :) I drink Michelob Ultra and I do allow calories for these. One thing I do is drink lots of water that day and the day afterwards and continue my workouts. When I was on weight watchers, I didn't change my cocktail habit at all and still lost weight each week. Moderation is the key as long as you are staying within your calorie range and you've had lots of water that day. My moto is that I WON'T go without the things I enjoy...I will just have them with moderation! :)
    CHEERS!

I can go without them but I don't wanna right now. So, I budget cals for them and try to exercise on days I imbibe to boost the metab (alcohol is a depressant that apparently slows the metab).

Flavored vodka and club soda, lots of ice, low on cals with no diet drink chemicals to pollute my bod.

    Cheers! :drinker:

I was doing the after work cocktail and then wine with dinner every day. It was routine and I sure looked forward to it! I am speaking in past tense because I did find when I forced myself to change my routine, my body reacted in a positive way. I eliminated the cocktail and now only have wine with dinner a couple nights a week . I substituted chai green tea as my after work beverage. That took some getting used to...it's nothing like a Jameson+gingerale but eventually I got used to the new routine and now I enjoy it (almost) as much as a cocktail. I noticed that in addition to more successful weigh-ins, I sleep a lot better at night. I didn't anticipate that so it was a nice bonus to my new routine. I still splurge a bit on the weekends but I try to pick just one day and work it into my calories. Cheers!

Same. I love my glass of wine at night! I'm trying hard to cut back to wine on weekends only. Hard to do. I work it into my calories and try to drink an extra glass of water per glass of wine. It seems to keep me in check.

Boozing was my favorite past time, and I paid the price of gaining 20 pounds because of it. These days, I've matured since by young college days (2 years ago haha), and usually drink about 1-2 times a week. My favorite mixers are ALWAYS diet (sprite zero, diet squirt, pink lemonade, to name a few) and vodka.

YES! But, I have had some recent help with being put on a prescription that limits me. I find it so hard to not enjoy a great glass of wine, but you are so right. The pounds do seem to slip off easier and I have less temptation from the day after drinking munchies.

Have a great time! There is so much to do there. I used to travel there for business/pleasure quite frequently. The food and drinks are crazy good. The restaurants are just wonderful. The Bellagio and Flamingo buffets are just delicious. :drinker:

Don't forget to go to Freemont Street.
