What exactly is a "cup" of water?

Options
On my homepage it says that we are recommended to drink 8 "cups" of water per day. So, is that considering that a "cup" is 8 oz (like a measuring cup) or is it like a full size glass? I fill my regular glasses up to about 16 oz., but I've been counting that as a "cup"...and I can never get to 8 (especially since I hate water) - the most is 3 of my "cups" a day.

So...do I count my full 16 oz. glasses as 1 cup or as 2 cups?

    LOL, very funny.

I guess I was reading "cup" but thinking "glass". Glad I'm actually closer to the amount of water I need per day than I thought

I would ignore that recommendation and start drinking at least 2.7 liters or about 92 ounces a day. That should put you around 11 and a half 8 oz glasses a day, or fill up your liter drinking bottle about three times. This is the normal amount of water for a woman to drink as long as she does not have kidney problems.

May I ask where you got that stat from? I've never heard of such a high recommendation!

I usually drink around eight cups min to twelve cups a day sometimes more but going above 12 cups is not usually recommended.

8 oz equals to one measuring cup. I measured it once out of curioisty on how many cups can some of my glasses I have hold and it turns out half of my glasses holds 2 cups of water.

I use those glasses mostly because I know I'm getting in my water just by drinking four 16 oz glasses :D
