Alternative to coffee creamer???

I am kind of new to this. I need my coffee in the mornings before work and I need an alternative to putting creamer in my coffee. It is too many calories, but I cannot drink my coffee black. Does anyone have an alternative?

We use a little splash of non-fat half and half, it's 20 calories for 2 TBSP. Which is actually more than it seems. That or you can add a couple oz's of skim milk.

I use powdered, non-fat milk. Lower in calories than cream and doesn't water the coffee down like skim milk does.

I use vanilla almond milk now. It's low in calories and creamier than regular milk. I still kind of miss the coffee creamer though....sometimes I put it in if I feel like splurging :) Everything in moderation!
  • Hello, I have bought some light whip cream and I put a couple sprays in my coffee. I have always LOVED all the flavors of coffee-mate and stuff, but wow it has some calories!!!! I like mine creamy too, then I put one splenda in for some extra sweetness. Hope this helps!

I'm the same. I need my coffee and I need(ed) cream. However, I've been weening myself off the cream. First I switched from table cream to 10%. Then half as much 10% and some milk to top it up. I'm now down to drinking 5% cream with some milk. Hoping to get to the point where I only add skim milk. It has cut down on calories significantly.

I had to google coffee creamer..is it like whipped cream? I mean for the calories?
You could try with low fat milk instead maybe :)

So Delicious Coconut Creamer! Near the soy and almond milk. 10 calories and barely anything in it : )

I switched to Silk Soy original creamer @ 15 cals per tablespoon and sugar-free flavoring syrup (you can find this by the coffee in just about any grocery), @ 0 cals per tablespoon. If you need it a bit sweeter, throw in a packet of truvia.

Either unsweetened vanilla almond milk (Blue Diamond is only 45 calories PER CUP!) or unsweetened plain low carb soy milk like Westsoy.....some people also like fat free half and half....I personally use RTD protein drinks for creamer like the one from premier nutrition (Costco)....it might have more claories but it's totally worth it for the 30 grams of protein....and it tastes like a fabulous mocha! I mix my Starbucks Via / hot water with it and I'm good to go!

You don't have to give it up!
I can't drink my coffee black either. I gradually decreased the amount of creamer I use and I'm down to 1Tbsp per mug and 1 (sometimes 2) splenda. The original coffee mate is only 20 cals a Tbps so it's not too bad.
My all time favorite: almond joy creamer is 35 cals so I tend to have it on certain days only.

I use fat free half and half and splenda myself. It's very low in calories and I only need about 1 Tbsp of the H&H for a tall coffee. I've also used the silk soy original creamer that PlunderBunneh mentioned. Good stuff, though harder to come by in our stores. I make special trips twice a month for it. :)

    What's wrong with plain milk?

What about skim milk? I know it doesnt taste that great in coffee but if you use a 1/2c thats only 45 cals, its fat free and its enough to make your coffee light (i like mine light atleast).

Or try half and half. I believe its 1/2 cream 1/2 milk.

I had this same problem to, but then I started drinking my coffee black with 1-2 splendas, and I honestly like it better. I was realizing that I was pitting so much crap into my coffee that I would feel like crap from all the sugar & fat I was putting into it., when I really was drinking coffee for the energy. SO once I stopped with all that fat and cream & sugar, and started drinking it black, I was getting the energy I wanted from the coffee w/o the extra calories and bloated feeling.

Now I use it for a pick me up in the morning and I drink 2 cups with 1 splenda black. I was one of them people who didn't think I could ever drink coffee black! BUT once I started, its really not that bad.

    hope i helped

Actually I think that black coffee is the best of the best, but why do you think coffee and milk "doesn't taste that great"? :|

I'm not a black coffee fan either but I have been buying flavored coffee such as vinilla and it really takes the "black" flavor away.

I am not a black coffee drink either, nor do I enjoy the taste without some sweetness. I use sugar free creamer so it is less calories, however if you just need the creaminess, then unsweetened almond milk is the way to go.
Also - just a suggestion - I have switched to coffee mocha protein shakes as a substitute for coffee in the morning. It is breakfast and I get everything I need for 130 calories, less than 1g of fat and 20grams of protein.

Fat free non dairy creamer is like 10 calories per serving, paired with Truvia instead of sugar and you have a low calorie cup of coffee that is pretty tasty!

Fat free half and falf with sugar free coffee syrup (I use Torani vanilla). 1-2cups of coffee, 2 tbsp syrup, 3tbsp ff half&half = 23 calories and 3 carbs, no fat.

Protein powder. Sometimes a tsp of hazelnut syrup or tsp almond extract to give it a fresh taste.

Hi.. I was actually on the same boat as you, I love coffee in the mornings and I was always adding French vanilla creamer which would end up in adding a lot of unnecessary calories…. This is my first week where I started using regular coffee mate powder creamer and 1 packet of splenda, I have cut down my morning calorie intake in half!!! So try it, so far it has worked for me, I like it and with only 1 little packet of splenda, my coffee is sweet enough. Hope this helps :-)

I use unsweetened almond milk and sugar free coffee syrups, such as Davinci or Torani, to flavor my coffee. I used to be addicted to the yummy sweet caloric creamers and this is a good substitution. You can get any flavor imaginable in the syrups.
